FYI, if you have a W164, then it's a MY2006 or later. I know that in GB, "plate year" is used, but for MBZ terminology, it's "model year" and the W164 did not start production until MY2006, even though they were built in calendar year 2005.

I don't think there is a really for the ABS system. There are a few fuses, though. Here's a set of fuse and relay diagrams:

Yes, if it's really a UK xx05yyy or xx55yyy plate it's a W163.

You can also see by decoding the VIN to get the build list I think?

Search for "Free VIN Decoder" in your country.

Fuse/relay box under the hood

Whats the big weirdo secret about people not telling others where certain relays are located, who gives a rats arse if someone thinks they know more than someone else,. Its bad enough mercedes dont list and hide all the fuse and relay locations. We know they are wankers but no need to act like them. Can someone please tell me where i can find the ABS pump relay in my 2005 W164 ML500. NOT just where the fuse boxes are but which relay it is. Thanks.

 

Barry, 2005 MLs are W163, Your vehicle must be 2006 ML500 if it is W164.

What is your full vin#, no spaces.

 

Wow it seems like theres not one website worldwide that can list where the ABS pump relay is located in my 2005 W164 ML500. But not just where the fuse boxes are but which friggn relay it actually is. Whats the big weirdass secret ? "oh, i know but... People its not as top secret as Mercedes make it out to be. They must be the tightest car manufacturing company anywhere. Why dont they list all the fuses and relays in the owner manuals ? So they can rip the crap out of the very people that keep them in jobs? Not even on the insides of the fuse box lids, wtf, stupid approach to keeping their return buyers with them. So who wants to spill the beans of this topsecret location ? Haha...

Witek_M. Thanks for replying. It is written in the headline for my post, But its a 2005 W164 ML500. I think i have found the answer but have not yet been to have a look. Someone said that the ABS relay is inside the plastic cover of the ABS pump itself, would you agree ? Cheers.

 

What is your VIN? What is the problem? What are the symptoms?

 

Give us your whole VIN number so Witek can identify your car, Barry.

For example, mine is "WDC164xxxxx" and is a W164.

There are too many differences between W163 and W164 to guess where your components might be.

 

+Relay box that includes Relay "K" is in right side of luggage comp. behind access panel (see photo above Mine is a 2006 model so K Relay is the grey one4 top right of panel. I think your 2005 is the other layout with Grey "K" relay on left side of panel half way down. Hope this helps.
