your trunk handle should work fine as they are different lines from the pump. if your having troubles you may need a new pse pump or have a leak in the line or the plunger for the handle is no good. if you hear a his in the back of your seat leave the switch on "0" until you fix it so the pump wont be stressed out.

pull the back of your seat off and you can see the bladder to inspect it then go from there.

i think it's a bit of misconception that if one thing leaks all the others do. all the accessories from that strong little pump are on different sections to what they provide pressure or vacuum to.

I replaced my pump a few weeks ago for about $500 us.
My trunk handle wouldn't pop out for 5 or 6 seconds, climate wouldn't shift the air from top vents to bottom for ages. rear headrests wouldn't fall ,
fuel door wouldn't open, door locks took ages and sometimes failed to open.
it's important to have a healthy pump then you can go from there.
that's my opinion anyway

^^ The pump that is in the car was replaced about 6months ago. Before i owned it our family Dr. bought a reman pump for almost $500. The pump is running strong lol. But yeah idk why the trunk lip keeps coming out. Im guessing it comes out when im driving over a bump or something.

You are correct! i havent gotten a chance to pull anything off yet but i do notice that Hsssss noise when i sit on my driver seat. I notice it happens when the car sits for a bit. I always wondered what the heck that noise was lol. Where can i find that bag?

I would leave the trunk handle alone until you fix your lumbar support as it may work as per normal after you fix the leak if you have one. do it one at a time if you know what i mean.

Refer to the pictures supplied at the start of this thread for diagnosis.
To remove the seat back take out he torque or Phillips head screws and the cover comes away nice and easy. If you look into the back of the seat you will just be able to see the bag. the hoses had broken clean off mine (as seen in my pictures) let alone the seems of the bag being torn apart.

whatever age your w140 it's an old car now and if those bags are yellow instead of clear it's time for some new ones. i presume your in the usa where they are cheap as i was just told.

i replaced mine today. they never worked when i brought the car in Feb it is soooooooooooo good.

I have a question. I have been noticing for awhile not that my Driver seat makes a "HHHSSSSSSSSS" noice whenever i sit in it. Today i finally decided to see what was the main cause of the hissing noise because i know for a fact i have a vac leak somewhere. My trunk lid latch always comes out at times and there would be times when i first go sit in my car... my trunk opens right up. I did what was on this write up and i saw that my lumbar bags are ok. So i blew into the bag and the air held up. So now im suspecting that maybe the leak could be at the connection to the actual lumbar switch?

On the side note i do notice now that ONLY the front passenger side door assist doesnt work. The rest of the 3 door works.

The fitting from the lumbar seat button that connects to the bladder bag. As of yesterday i went ahead and applied a tiny bit of gasket sealant onto the lumbar switch hose fitting. After i did that i let the sealant sit for a bit to dry off before i tested it. I gone ahead and started my car up and i adjust the lumbar to the highest #5 and i can instantly feel the bag filling up. Before everytime i try to use it i hardly feel anything. One other thing too... i was just pressure checking the lumbar bags by kinda pushing aganst it while it was full and i do hear a light Hsss... but im gussing that is normal?

Now my front passenger side door closing assist finaly works and i kinda think my trunk closing assist is working also now. My trunk assist always work but sometimes i have to open up the trunk fully 2-3 times and shut it before it catches.

It has come to my attention that W220 Bladders fit into the w140's Bladders spot , the only difference is that the w220's bladders are square instead of the kidney shaped w140's , the fitting points on top only need to be punched out , other then that they fit in perfectly and apparently feel better then the w140's bladder due to the square shape of them .
If you can't find a w140 bladder anywhere since they have been discontinued , consider this w220 part instead , they are even cheaper at $35 vs $56 for the W140 .
Thanks to Ian ( Aydhin420 forum name ) .

Reviving this good read on the subject started by G-AMG since I saw questions on another thread about the lumbar bags.

For reference, here are pictures of new bags that I just received so we know what we're looking at. This is for the non-orthopedic seats, (only lumbar adjust).

The left part is #140 910 23 75 (I paid $49.60) and the right is #140 910 24 75 ($77.35). I could have gone with the W220? bags, but since the W140 is still available, I think it's good to continue the demand for chassis specific parts.

I plan to plumb these up this week.

Does anyone know if these simple air connectors have a MB part #? I may just use something more universal (think aquarium), but would like the original part if it's available.

I'm going to hazard a guess that it's either 26, 32 or possibly one of those and 53 in the image below.

The filter used for this search is just "140" and then North American market, so it should have all possible combinations. Good luck!
