Hey all,

Here are a few pics of my 560SEC Euro.

They aren't the best pictures, but I am sure they will get you drooling! :)

yup - nice car, but it would be even nicer if you put those wheels back on the saab they came from, removed the fender chrome, and took off the mercedes-star vanity plate on the front (i have yet to see a car that looked better with decorative plates on it). some nice monoblock, 1st-gen CLK, later R129, 8-hole, or even 15-hole wheels would all look better than the current wheels.

of course, that's just what i would do... but it's your car, your canvas...

Thanks for all your replys guys!

Yes, I love the wheels! As Snibble said, they are indeed period proper BRABUS Monoblock II's, 18" x 9 1/2" with an offset of +26. The rubbers are Dunlop 235/40/Z18 in the front and 275/40/Z18 in the rear. They fit perfectly with no rubbing issues in either the front or back and I find it stablizes the ride of the car during high speed crusing.

They are very much love them or hate them rims.

The deco front plate is temporary until my European plate arrives and I find that the chrome accents over the wheel wells accents the car and works well with the rim combination.

Thanks again!

Great car, cyberdyne, congratulations :). Any rare equipment options?

The Brabus wheels look interesting to me, they definitely do NOT come from a Saab... ;) And sometimes it's pleasure to see something other than well-known, "politically correct" 3-piece AMGs.

If I had to suggest anything, it would be removing chrome wheel well "arches", painting bumpers and lower body panels to match the body color, and fitting some nice clear front turn signals.
Such change would definitely give 'modern' touch-up to your car, but that's only my taste. :)

PS. Did you import the car from Europe, or just buy it locally?

Michal,

I am new to the whole 560SEC arena, what is considered a 'rare' option? I don't have an ECE/822 or anything.

I share your feelings on the rims! :)

I have ordered clear corners, but have yet to find clear rear corners. (Do they exist?)

The chrome arches are there to stay and I love the two-tone look. My recently destroyed E320 had a similar paint scheme and I loved it.

The car is an European spec, Japanese export. That is, it was originally built and sold in Germany and then exported to Japan shortly afterwards (I believe they call this a 'parallel import') where I imagine it lived until 2004 when it was exported to Vancouver, Canada.

I bought it a few days ago (09/26) and I have all the paperwork since it landed here in Canada. It has been well serviced since it arrived and that will no doubt continue now that the car is in my hands.

When it comes to 2nd gen Euro car, the more or less rare options would be:
- passenger air bag in place of glove box (standard on US cars from 1989)
- automatic air conditioning (again, standard on US cars)
- Webasto preheater
- trip computer in place of tachometer (very rare)
- power rear window sunshade
- storage compartment between rear seats (not sure if available on non-US cars)
- fire extinguisher
- folding-up tow hook (very rare)
- onboard phone (very very rare)
- fridge in front of rear seats (extremely rare, don't even know if available on coupes)
- fax in rear armrest (extremely rare, don't know if available on coupes)

I've never seen rear corners alone. But you can buy the whole aftermarket taillight assemblies with either clear turn signals/reverse lights and red position/stop/fog lights or with just everything clear.

To each his own... :)
Right now I'm waiting for a set of aftermarket clear tailights... I had always wanted them on my car, for long time before buying my SEC.
And the funny thing is, that in Poland where I live (don't know about other countries) 9 out of 10 SEC enthusiasts would say "Are you crazy??! Get rid of this crappy sh**!!!". But I don't care :)

PS. And this is how your 560SEC could look like with all black body and without chrome arches: :):):)

It's a 1:87 model by famous German Herpa company.

It's quite late in British Columbia, you must like night surfing... :)

The model is discontinued rare-find, but you can still find some examples on eBay around the world, as I did. It's just standing next to my screen, and I must say it looks much better than on the photo, as the real color is DEEP black. :)

With regret....

Hey all,

Just to let everyone know...

I was involved in an accident in this car a few days ago.

I haven't had my meeting with the insurance company yet but I believe the car will be a total loss. :( :( :(

I didn't even have it three days. :(

More details later. :(

Well,

I was making a left hand turn and I was hit by a '97 Honda Accord. He was moving much faster than I thought he was and I turned infront of him thinking I had plenty of time....well I didn't! :( :( He caught the rear passenger side of the car with his front passenger side and the impact totaled both cars. :(

If anyone in the Vancouver, Canada area can turn me on to a replacement 560SEC , I will be in a buying position in a few days after all is sorted out with ICBC. Contact me on here and we will talk further.
