What brand/series tires to you prefer for your W124?
I'm look @ mileage more than handling consideration.
(I've always liked michelins on my Toy***, but every car is
different in how it drives and performs.)

JUST WENT THEOUGH THIS 3WEEKS AGO

I have a 94 E320 99k, my daughter drives it, so it is mileage she is looking at mostly.

Just put Michelein Primacy MXV4's on it, plus a 4 wheel alignment.

I drove it hard throught the turns and it was fine. I also went with the 195/65R15 size, since mileage was the main goal.

$642.88 out the door alignment included. I get $70. back after the 1st of August, a Michelein thing. So after all is said and done $572.88 will be the final cost.

This was at my regular tire guy. Not ordered online.

They are just right!

If you are a Costco member they have a special on Bridgestones, 70 off of 4 tires and 30 off installation. I just ordered the Potenza Re960s for my E420-195/65 15 91H. For me they are fine since we don't have snow/ice here. But everyone has their thoughts, the car has Toyo Versados on it now and I can't wait until they are gone.

Continental here too.

I even put them on my other car when its OEM spec Dunlops got discontinued. They have a pretty soft sidewall but the grip is great in low speed gravel and wet and dry pavement. And the price is right as well.

Here's my input on this,my sons car has stock 15" rims ,my car has 16" rims, his car is very quite driving down the road, mine has lots more road noise coming from the tires, their larger and wider, they came with my car,his car seem s more nimble? but the 16"s look cool, its a toss up,expect noise with larger tires.

This is poking a nest of hornets....

For a quiet, smooth, comfortable ride with decent fuel economy, long life and wet traction, I prefer the Michelin Primacy MXV4.

Tire Rack test results here and here.

My preference is based on the performance of the tires over the LIFE of the tire. Most tires perform well when new, but performance falls off as the tires wear. This is especially true with noise and wet handling.

For better performance, there are tires that are superior to this Michelin out there. Same for long life, ultimate wet/ winter traction etc etc etc. However, for the qualities I mentioned above, I believe you can't go wrong with the Michelin.

Once you throw price into the equation though, you will get a completely different result.

I'm on board with those whio suggested the Conti DWS "Dry, wet, snow" Extreme Contact tires that were recommended to me also, by the people at the independ shop that specializes in the repair of the w124, and who sold me my 1995 E420.

They have given me wonderful service in all weather conditions 21,000 miles and the tread still has plenty of miles left to go
