My e320 1995 has reached 115 k and as a preventing maintenance I am looking to replace wires and coils. I did see some arching between wires and surroundings metal parts when I replace the plugs but I did not have a fresh set of wires at the time.

I found coils +wires + boots "BREMI" on "Partsgeek" for about 250.
Is BREMI a good brand? or should I go for Bosch.
I can't find Beru anywhere!!!

Huge mistake #1 . I had the Bremi wires an coils on order so I decided to put them on anyway.
Huge Mistake #2 Dove the car about 70 miles away from home. ....came back in 4 out of 6 cylinders.

I guess you know the rest. Put the old ones back and car is flawless.

Rollin, the " " was to indicate that they are not "expensive"
Often people use off brands because the good stuff seems expensive to them.
We feel the same way, here's one of my older posts regarding the logic of "cheap" vs "expensive" parts.

Bremi wires are decent but avoid their caps, rotors, and coils. Stick to Bosch / Genuine MB.

Well, don't think you're safe with Bosch...they have 'levels' of dist caps. The last two I bought were made in Spain...the first one carbon tracked on two cylinders. Bought again...Spain. Waiting for this one to fail too.

I assume the hefty price for the OE means that it's still made in Germany. $300-$400+(depending on where you buy), seems obscene to me for a simple I6 cap.

Bosch sucks. I had a Bosch distributor cap fail on me with less than 4,000 miles on it. I took it to the mechanic because I couldn't figure out why the car was missing. The mechanic called me and told me my Bosch distributor cap carbon button had failed. He replaced it with another Bosch distributor cap. It took me a long time... I couldn't diagnose it I couldn't believe it was a Bosch distributor cap that has failed that soon. So if your having a problem and have Bosch part check them.

since bosch sucks what part is on your car?
bosch is what you will get from the dealer it is the factory brand for that cap and rotor. every manufacture has defective parts thats why mercedes has a 50k warrenty on new cars. if every new product was perfect there would be no need for warrenty. i get over 100k out of bosch cap and rotors and will continue to use them and them only.
4000 miles would be covered under warrenty.

sometimes mercedes has a lot of failures so they will put out a recall that does not mean all the cars suck

a great example is the timing gears on the 06 to 08 engines that teeth wear off the gear repair cost over 5k

another is the wiring harnesses in the 90's crumbling

even with these problems it looks like you are still driving your mercedes it must suck a lot by now:eek

bosch is the only manufacture that i have seen in the mercedes box for distributor cap or rotor still the best

Don't be too seduced by "Made in Germany". My Bremi cap and rotor were made in Germany and binned after just over a year. Quality Management is the issue and MB tends to be better than after-market.

My cap and rotor are MB (€€€€€), leads and plugs are Beru. All fine for the last few years.

Got them returned.... now I have to buy good ones.

Does anyone know a good source for coils and wires? I will probably buy MB genuine coils but for the wires? I know someone on the forum manufactures them with genuine parts, can't seam to find it anymore.

I need only German made stuff...

Wow trusting someone to make something for you that has been banned from multiple web sites is crazy. No way to track him down if there is a problem. kinda like pissing in the wind.:frown Have you checked with the local shops in your area about wires? Most of the shops i worked at had the tools to make them and the parts are availible in most every big town in the usa.

I will probably buy the tool and do them myself ( It does not have to be MB genuine, I looked at the crimping marks on the already made one, and I believe a tool can be made)
