So if you remember I had ignition problems and found out the the ignition module on the fender was bad, replaced, fired right up! Soon after it stalled on the wife (not good) when I got to the car it fired up like nothing, hmm. Drove home and left it running, went in the house came outside and it stalled, hmm. Statrted up fine an so I started moving thing and when i barely moved that wire it stalled immediately, ok thats the problem! Find part number looked it up, NLA. A few dealers had it at like $225 or more, damn. More research and I found URO makes replacement for 380/560 engines but plug to dizzy looks different. 60 bucks? What the hell I'll try. Of course it didn't work even tried moding it. I did learn putting the original wire back in the same place its been for 30+ years keeps it running, but I think it def giving me weak signal. After a few months I decided to bite the bullet for dealer price but now my searches turn up nada. So basically I'm looking for a replacement if anyone has one, or I'll put the connector from the old wire on the new URO one! Somehow!

0001596518 is the part number

Could you pull the old module apart and attempt to repair it? I recently had one of those apart and one thing I noticed was how large and simple the internal connections are. Might it possibly be a cracked solder joint which could be simply re-soldered? Heck, I'll bet that even the little internal resistors and capacitors could be replaced, if the correct ones can be procured.

Hey ManaBenz,

I've had this exact same issue before. I replaced

Ignition Module
Ignition Condensor Cable (Green Cable)
Dizzy
Fuel Pump Relay

It actually turned out to be a faulty fuel pump. Once I replaced that I never had the issue again. That being said, to test this, I put back the original Ignition Module and it never gave a days issue thereafter.

Link to my many month's of troubleshooting below. Maybe it will help

Thank you but I already bought that wire! It is not the same as the part number I have given. The connection for the distributed is different for 380/420 than M110. At least I got it much cheaper than the price you showed here, I paid $65! I guess I need to splice the distributor connection for my old wire onto new wire I have like the one in the link you gave.

That’s what I’m afraid of! But what choice do I have? My ignition has a miss sometimes and everything is new except that wire. I feel the signal is being interrupted. I can’t believe no one or no where has this wire anymore, you think Classic Center would have? Isn’t there a lot of M110 around the world!

Well wire came and I have a new car! I found a NOS cap and rotor and installed them after I took the car for a spin with the new wire in place. Did a little adjusting to the fuel mixture, checked timing as well and holy hell this wagon is fast! No black smoke when it use to get close to red line or pinging/pre-detonation. I owe you some green bottles @Nutz 4 Benz !!!

Still have a hot start issue though, takes a bit to catch, stumbles, and gets a bit of smoke once it catches. I feel like its getting flooded a bit, need to check thermal timing switch and cold start valve. Accumulator is new as is the fuel injectors and seals.

Well unfortunately the car stalled out, I have no spark. Hate to think of selling this car, but its starting to become a burden. Anyway I have new ignition module, wires, coil, cap, rotor, plugs are good, and obviously the green wire from ignition module to distributor. Timing and valves checked. My friend has an '85 280TE so I had him take his ignition module off for me tp try and no spark. Haven't had time to bust out the multi meter because of the wet weather and no garage. About a month ago it started missing at stop lights with foot on the brake in drive, ran smooth at all other times, even in park/neutral. This was a symptom before all the things I've replaced and I had thought I cured it with all that I've done. Its had issues in the past with wet weather, please help!
