Hey guys, so i own a 2005 clk500 (facelift model). 5.0L m113 V8 with the 7g trans! I want to get more power. Im not sure if i should swap in the m113k or just buy a the m113k supercharger alone! Any help? The m113k engine is quite expensive, and out of my budget for the time being. I've found a supercharger for a good price, but if it would be a direct fit or not, and what else would i need. Any help? And thanks

Welcome to the forum @Slick.Benz - please take a moment to read the information on the link below. It explains how to update your user profile so that your car's details and your location appear on each post below your avatar. This is good information for others to know when trying to help. Unless you are just wanting to tinker and money is no object, my advice would be to a more powerful car. Tunes do very little good on these engines and aftermarket superchargers will require custom ECU tunes.

I love the w209 platform, im building a custom 1/1 all metal widebody for the car. I have it lowered on eibach springs, and 19inch 2piece rotiform rims (lhr-m2 finished in bronze). Im also working on a custom interior project and all what's left is the engine. Should i turbo? Should i supercharger? Should i procharge? Not so sure here.... at the end of the day the best solution is to engine swap it but idk :/

Just understand that you're not working on 1970's Chevy. These cars are completely computerized and some of the parts have encrypted firmware. You can't easily swap things like ECUs and TCUs. You can't just drop in a different type engine without some serious electronics work.

Not worth the hassle. You will spend much more than the car is even worth. The best thing to do is get a simple ECU Tune from a reliable tuner and call it a day. Kleemann did my CLK55 and it made a difference. I had Kleemann also do my CLK350 with ecu tune and the works. While you may love the CLK just understand the CLK C209/W203 C Class is not tuner friendly unless you drop major coin.

I am always amazed that someone wants to hack apart a perfectly tuned, perfectly balanced Mercedes and out-think the factory by draining their savings account on performance parts. All you end up doing is RUINING the vehicle, enriching the executive bonus, 401k plan and Holiday parties for those aftermarket "performance" companies. It is truly all show and no go. Barney, George and Elmer cannot out-think the MB engineers in their garage on 23rd street SE.

Imagine the fortunes that have been made by convincing people that the magic part will add horsepower. I would encourage you to ignore what Barney, George and Elmer tell you because they'd never admit that they wasted their money, instead, they'd insist that they cracked the code.

When I had the dealership, we had to unravel more than a few of these messes including "cold air induction" systems that set codes for airflow. As mentioned above, this is not a 1972 Chevy Nova that you can install a 4-barrel intake and carburetor to add horsepower.

Beware of fancy labels on these cars that show that someone has magically "tuned" it as well.

I believe MB and most other OEMs design and build cars for the mid range of a particular targeted group of buyers. For MB, if it isn't an AMG, it is probably not tuned/designed for optimum pergormance in areas that may be more desired by some enthusiasts. There are a number of reasons why one would not have an AMG and still desire some of its performance levels. So, there are those who have businesses centered around making those adjustments for those who seek increasing some performance area/s of THEIR car.

My clk550 received Kleeman headers and ECU tune at about 50K miles many years ago (I bough it new). I installed H&R lowering springs and sway bar, I repaced the exhaust (headers to exhaust tips), added a CF rear diffuser and several other cosmetic things just because that is the way I wanted it..... :) I have, in the past, considered forced induction and cam shaft change but decided it is not what I wanted.

The car spends most of its run time moving to or at 2000 RPM... I love it.. It has 253K miles on it. So I love it some more..

I believe there is a range of modifications one can make to THEIR car that are within the design considerations of the OEM, in both a positive and negative direction. i.e a car on H&R sport springs and Bilstein sport struts may handle and hold the road better/different and closer the the owners liking but not ride as smooth as sold by the OEM.

So, not all tuners and after market manufacturers are scam artists.

Just my opinion; and we all have at least one..... :)

For me, everything 'is right" with my car. I guess I really don't understand why people changing things on their cars is such an irritant.

And for me, when I bought the 08 550, there was not an 08 55 and I believed the 550 to be a better buy for me than the 07 55. Choices and decisions are good things.

CLK63 is way to go.

I don't have one but maybe some day. If I turn off the traction control on my 500 I can get sideways in an instant. Don't need more power in LA.

And a little cautionary tale. I loved the look of CLK63 rims. They're bigger and wider than CLK500 ones, so I got them.

Look AWESOME !

Probably handle better, but I DON"T NOTICE. What I do notice is the much harder ride and I have popped a couple (EXPENSIVE) tires due to the low profile sidewalls. Love the look, hate the reality.
