Hi to all,

Have problem as before few days I wanted to adjust steering wheel position and something broke and now I cant secure wheel any more by lever below it. New driving experience with dancing steering wheel...

Had somebody same issue? I looked into and some black piece of plastic broke with small spring on locking mechanism on top of steering column jacket tube.

Found on net practical solution which do a job for now but I want proper fix... changing whole black plastic locking mechanism if possible.

According EPC you cant order only that mechanism only whole steering column which cost 500EUR... I can find donor used steering column on ebay or similar but dont know if I can swap it with my broken one.

Any info welcome and appreciate...

Thanks guys for provided info... I need for my Bee A1694603816 or older A1694603416.
On first link is proper one but looks as plastic locking mechanism is not complete and seller doesnt post outside UK...
Must investigate if its possible to remove that plastic mechanism from donor... much cheaper option for sure with less trouble.

this happens when one pushes too hard on the lever to adjust the steering , the little plastic part breaks , mine did so just before roadworthy time so i had to fix it fast , i threaded a bolt onto it so the lever locked it , made the pull lever under the steering wheel sit out a bit , but it worked fine .one has to be with this thing very light in pushing it back to lock the wheel .
Still didnt solve this as my ordered part came without that red clip which secure lever... must see if I can use red clip from old part. Pretty annoying...

At last I found time to fix this and do a proper job which will exchange temp solution with metal clip.

Short tutorial:
1. open lower panel with footwell light below steering wheel (2 bolts only) to access steering column
2. unsecure steering wheel that you can move column as you wish, detach that black steering position secure lever handle from rod (with screewdriver push one pin to remove) below wheel as rod can go inside dash
3. as securing system on column is broken you only need to unclip it from brown holder and slide it down via white plastic rail along with whole lever rod and red clip on top of it
4. when you removed item its easy to assemble new securing mechanism from donor steering column
5. slide new mechanism from bottom along white rail and pop out lever outside dash, then secure it on brown holder.
6. secure lever rod on top from inside dash with small plastic to stop tilting, put handle back and thats it. As new now... it cost me 40EUR for donor steering column.

Most of job go with hands "on blind" as its hard to see below dash.
