Looking for suggestions on tuning my 2000 s500 w220. Chime in with opinions!

I would say, look for an S55 AMG, either pre- or post-facelift. You're not going to wring much more out of your M113-50 engine than it's already putting out for you without some very expensive work. Now, if you were talking about, say, an M275 V12TT-equipped W220, then yes, tuning would help due to the forced induction. I think there are also pulley mods and other mods for the S55 AMG (M113K supercharged) engine as well. But for a naturally-aspirated engine, you're really looking at a custom turbo kit or a supercharger kit (e. g. Kleeman's) if you want significantly more power out of your S500.

Actually you can get a very good amount of power with the amount of after market parts for the w220 s500 now as far as headers , exhaust , cam kits ,tubes , airbox upgrade, throttle body upgrade, and there are plenty who have made custom turbo headers

Dang, that thing is low to the ground! I hope you have WAR's "Low Rider" in your CD changer! :)

I like the sound of turbo V8's, too. But if you really do want to bump up the power in that sweet low-rider of yours, here's the kit you want.

The post-facelift S55 AMG's own factory supercharger is patterned basically off of this one. Then you'll want to get a tune to take advantage of that supercharger (Kleemann does that as well). You may find that you like the sound of supercharged V8's as much as turbocharged ones. ;-)

That's really good, man. I need to have you shop for my cars! :)

In that case, you really want to invest in a STAR Diagnostic System setup to keep that ride of yours in top shape. Just about everything on that car's computerized, and that red cherry you've got there deserves top-level attention.

I already have it as well as a specialized mbii scanner for quick scans.

Wow only 800 for that car with airmatic problems? That’s fantastic.

Please do a thread on how are you using a custom aftermarket air ride set up. A lot of us want to go to full manual control air suspension. There was once a guy making a Bluetooth controlled manual air ride set up using your phone, but he seems to have disappeared. I still can’t believe the aftermarket tuner crowd hasn’t jumped all over the S class and CLS class for their built in airbag suspension.

oh and to answer your question as far as tunes, the best tune for your car would be a pedal commander or sprint booster, as they make your car feel much more powerful, by altering the pedal settings, and the seat of your pants feel will be of driving a much quicker car, even though your car does not actually get any additional power. After all what matters is not the horsepower number, but the way your car feels and drives, and a pedal commander or sprint booster will make it feel much faster.

To tell you the truth putting aftermarket air ride on these is simple. Instead of 4mm lines I now have 1/4. Instead of 1/2 gallon air tank I have 5 gallon. Instead of 1 compressor I am running 2 viair 444s. Oh and I used the plug in modules they use for coil spring conversion to fool the computer so it doesn't realize I am adjusting it not computer. It thinks everything is fine and dandy at stock height.

Getting back to the original topic of this thread, this eBay pedal controller is the cheapest way to improve the performance of your non-supercharged or turbocharged W-220

This operates by amplifying, your accelerator pedal input signals, it doesn’t make your actual car any faster, But it’s as if you are depressing the gas pedal faster and more forcefully than you really are, so your car will feel much quicker in the seat of the pants feel. Which is probably what most of us want anyway, a better seat of the pants feel.

if you were referring to the normal center front license plate mount, those were installed at the dealer and many dealers did not attach those to the Car if the owner wanted a smooth look . So there are a lot of W220s that have no holes in the center of the front bumper , for a front license plate. My s500 has no front license plate bracket and no holes
