W210 Intermittent Start Delay Problem

Normally insert the key, turn to position 3 and engine starts - just a flick without having to hold the key a second. Now, out of every 10 ignition attempts, at least 1 or 2 times I could expect a delay, having to hold the key a bit longer till the engine starts. Either I keep holding the key or if I release the key the cranking carries on and in 6-7 seconds the engine starts. Is this symptomatic of any faulty part?

My observation of this cycle:

1) Window moving only an inch once button is pressed. At this point, window does not accept resync (no click sound).

2) After 2 hours or 2 days (no fixed pattern), this moving an inch will disappear by itself, and window moves perfect in "depressed mode" but dead in "express mode". Then window can accept resync. After resync, window stays good both "depressed" and "express" for 2 hours or 2 days.

3) 2 hours or 2 days later, the moving an inch thing resurfacing again.

4) The longest record that window stays good is 3 weeks. Then out of the blue, it moves an inch again.

Can the motor act up like this?
Or is this the regulator?

Lift the window half way up and try to physically rock the window from front to back, does it move or not?

Doesn't move.

In short, window moves an inch each time the button is depressed. After 2 days, it moves smoothly again. Then after 1-2 days, it moves by inch again. Is this symptomatic of a faulty motor, or something else?
I need to press 5 times to open or close the window. The other 3 windows are perfect.

Did anyone

suggest you check the lines going from the pse?
To do a reset of the cars comm systems?
to sync all the windows when reset is performed?
To check for water intrusion in the pse location?
To use the remote key function to open the windows and sunroof so you can see if they operate normally when you do that?

Doing the re sync is the re set for the DCM, so I do not understand his response. Cant be much of an indie if he does not have DAS:rolleyes:

Yes, I would pull the door cover off and inspect the window regulator for damage especially the steel cables. Simply because it lifts and lowers the window does not mean it is perfect.
