I found it very difficult to get information on replacing my ECU with another one that wasn’t brand new. Everyone seemed to say something different on if it was possible, how it would be possible etc. So I decided to share my experience with changing the ECU and what I had to do.
I have a 2002 Mercedes c240 (w203) with a six speed manual transmission. My ECU got wet and the car would not even try to turn over. I had power but that was it. I did some googling and figured out it was the ECU. I went to a u pull it scrap yard and got another ECU from a wrecked Mercedes for $40.00
You HAVE to make sure the ECU your trying to use has the same part number on it. It’s the number on the top of the barcode on the ECU. I took the old ECU and new ECU and opened them both up. There is an immobilizer chip that you have to remove from the old ECU and swap the chips so that the new ECU has the old immobilizer chip in it. And that’s it. The used ECU works with no programming or anything. Here is the link to the video I watched to learn how to change the immobilizer chip.
I hope this helps someone else!
