Did you try pulling the head unit, disconnecting it, and then plug back in. I know the anti-theft system has its own power, maybe they're linked? Stab in the dark though.

 

Hahaha I'm sorry I failed us by not following the benzworld protocol. I was driving while she messed with my stereo so I couldn't stop her. I will make sure something like this never happens again by having her sit in the back seat from now on, although one time she was in the back seat and tried to push down my rear headrest with force. Maybe I'll have to copy those new GTI commercials and ask her to stay behind so I can enjoy my Fast.

I might have to try TK's suggestion, although I'm kinda afraid to do something like that because I'm not the most handy with messing around with car interiors. TK, would you like to move to CA? I think one of the families in my cul-de-sac is moving out.

After entering a wrong code for three times the unit will be blocked for ten minutes and shows "wait".
But leave the unit on, otherwise the ten minutes will not elapse.
Do some googling for numbers ('code Becker radio' or similar). There are some general numbers.

I lost my codes with my last MB. They wanted to be sure that it was not a stolen radio..checked VIN and told me the code. Give them a call.

After entering the code incorrectly three times the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio is disabled for approx. 10 minutes . After entering the incorrect code three times again the radio is disabled for approx. 60 minutes . NOTE: The disable time runs down only with the radio switched off.

 

Wait a sec... Dutchbenz says to leave the radio on, but rsmcmahon says to leave it off. I've basically left my radio turned off for the past two weeks, so I'm thinking Dutchbenz is right. I'm going to try this after work today to see if it works.

If the wrong code number has been entered and confirmed, the word "CODE" appears on the display again. After the code has been entered three times incorrectly the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio is disabled for approx. 10 min .

NOTE: The waiting time continues to run only when the radio is switched on.

After expiration of the waiting time the word "CODE" appears on the display again and the correct code number can be entered. After 3 more incorrect entries the radio is again disabled for 10 min . After 3 more incorrect entries (a total of 9 incorrect entries) the waiting time is increased to 60 min . After 3 more incorrect entries the radio locks up again for 60 min .

Not sure if this will help but when I got my 430 I went to the MB dealer. Once I showed them my vehicle registration w/ WIN number on it, my drivers license with an address that mathed the address on the registration and a visual confirmation of the VIN on the car that simply printed out the manufactures sheet hat had a wealth of information, including the radio code. Was worth the 15 minutes it took to stop and have them go through the confirmation process.

 

hey punk, I've only disconnnected my batt one time in the ml but had to dig on this. they are correct. it's part of the MB's 'alpine(?)' based radio 'anti-theft' system. you blow it twice, you have to wait 1 hour per my manual i.e you locked up the password feature--notwithstanding, disconnnect the batt again & do it all over. I would highly advise & disclaim against that w/out preconditions. this thing has WAY too many electrical components on it for you to hook up/disconnect your batt like you would a typical chevy. Radio presets aside, you'll encounter 'other' buggy issues later on--try to avoid this. dig in your car's glovebox, trunk, hell, even under the seats...look for an OEM sliver CC sized 'radio code card' It will show Code # and Serial #
For ex. mine says 5***4 for the 5 digit code and AL49**y****592 for the serial #
If you cannot find it, the others are spot on--go to dealer with vin, ID, keys in hand, & car on the lot & get it. let us know how it works out for you

 

I had to replace the battery in my 2000 ML 320 and of course the rdio went out. I just got the code from the dealer. I don't want to sound dumb, but do I just punch in the numbers on the keypad on the radio to reset it?

 

I had the same issues with my radio...new battery...code needed. I checked online and found all kinds of sites for hire. I finally just called the dealer and gave them my VIN number.....and they gave me the code...FOR FREE. They have them all in a master Mercedes database. So, just call your local dealer.

Do any of you read the thread before posting???? There is no list of numbers for your radio. You have to go to the dealership to confirm that you are the owner of the vin#...prevents thieves from stealing your radio and selling and then having people ask for codes on MB threads.

These codes are easy to find ,its knowing the sequence to put it in to the radios .I can find codes but i need the serial numbers from the rear of the radio plus the make of radio and model. Mercedes fitted so many radios over time .PM me with you info .I will help you if i can . I need a project while its raining .

just drive the car to any MB shop...as soon as they see the radio in the car, they'll take the vin # and give you the code...should be no charge...don't need to take radio out.
