Hi again guys...

I made a mistake today by not connecting airbag wire before starting engine. Now SRS light is on and I need a known tool for W210 to disable or reset SRS.
(there is nothing wrong with my SRS system)

Any recommendations?

Thanks :)

Scan Tools for W210

Thanks for replying. I don't know him. Do you have his full user name ? Thx

Do you have recommended SDS that I can purchase?

I found China made carsoft 7.4 and Autel AA101 that would clear SRS code.
But I can't find it anywhere.. :( (Icarsoft i980 is not compatible with W210)

Where do you buy your scan tools for Mercedes?

Damn.. that's expensive. 30k for a scanner. Made of gold. :crying

MB Diagnostic system is too proprietary.

Have you heard of Autel AA101 scanner? it's made in China but it works really well.

I just messaged Machack. Hopefully he is still around.

There is another guy in LA has SDS. If Machack is not around, I will have to drive up there.

There's the MB star/xentry system, both clone and genuine carsoft will clear, and anyone who has a professional scanner with all the plugs can also clear it.

I have the MB star system, but I'm located in LA. If you swing by, I'll clear it for you. Otherwise, buy me gas and pizza? :D

at one time ebay had a seller for a tool to reset the FSS and SRS on MB cars. I have one, it was about $30IIRC, and it does work on my E420 to reset the SRS light. Did the same thing as the OP and it reset it. It plugs into the 38 pin port.

I bought it in about 2009, so don't know if they are still being sold.

Also carsoft will reset it, but IMHO the ONLY version of carsoft worth the effort is the legit V12 from carsoft, about $300.

I'll be honest, that OBD scanner won't do it. There is nothing in the description about it being capable to read other modules, like airbag or ABS.

Beside, from what I understand, while our cars do have a OBD II port under the dash, they're largely useless for anything beyond generic diagnostic, because all the hardcore diagnostic is done through the round plug in the fusebox in the engine bay.

that is the problem with scanners.
I spend long hours couple years ago researching the scanners for my Ford Superduty, where engine monitoring is crucial and gave up, settling for $100 ScanGauge.
Unless you are ready to go back to college and get scanners degree you have to do it the hard way.
Although I don't agree that advanced scanning is done via round plug.
Sibling ML class has no round plug at all, yet you can scan it.

I didn't mean to say all cars -- just the W210. W163 worked with the OBD port with my SDS. Only other car that needed the round plug was, I believe, the late model of W124. I have yet to find a round plug for any W201, W126 and onwards (even though in Xentry/DAS it says it supports that). My '88 300E certainly has no diagnostic port.

MB sprinter has its own round plug, but that's a truck and not in this category.

Just some history of car electonics from top of my head.
OBD II become mandatory in USA in 1996, while it took till post 2000 to have them in other countries.
W124 has some secondary electronics, like Cruise Control, Idle control so at least in last years it does have round plug for scanning, but I have never seen anybody using it.
W126 had pneumatic logic system, what party was continued on W124.
Yes, a computer run on air. No plug

I bought the Chinese scanner on ebay and the probes for different cars including the MB one I hooked it up to my lattop and installed the software that came with it and was able to reset SR5 light off, besides I was able to scan the transmission and reset the it. For an affordable price. Have tried it with a 97 e320 and a 98 e320 both cars. Now on the 97 I had to set it to a 96 e320 to read the tranny but has done well for a nice price, The sofrware that comes with it is Delphi. I ve tried to use the snappon scanner it does reset the SR5 but not the transmission

One (of many) problems with the Chinese hardware (that's the multiplexing that allows addressing the different modules in the car via a serial interface and the 38-pin connector; our W210s can't address the modules via the OBDII connector, though later models can) on eBay is the variability of the quality. Some work, some don't. At least, that's the gist of what I've read from people who've actually bought the stuff.

And while I don't have an issue stealing software from larger companies such as Microsoft or Adobe where I feel my actions have little impact on their bottom line, CarSoft does not fall into that category and I can't in good conscience steal and use their v7.4 stuff, especially since buying the new v12 version is so reasonable ($250 for the whole package with the multiplexer is very reasonable for a niche-market product such as this, IMO).

The sofrware that comes with it is Delphi.
Albert, I'd like to hear more about the Delphi software you received. Can you post more about it? Does it have an equivalent to Help->About?

Well The scanner I bought throu ebay is the autocom cdp it comes with the obd2 cable and a cd software to install in your computer. Besides that I bought the adapter for different cars including MB for low price. Now its friendly user and its got help menus. I was able throu the MB connector to read a lot of info Being from my to E32o that I do have one is a 98 and the other is a 97.I wasable to scan the cars for all codes in the system and being able to reset different codes. I have a scanner Encore and a snap on with scope that are expensive a they do basically the same as the cheap one. The Snapon and the Encore are not able to reset the transmission adaptive values and the cheap one does. So for me it was nice option buying it and I will probably buy the scope they do sell for reasonable price. Its up to you Snapon scanner price was $7.5K and has to be hooked throu the mb port to read all different modules of your car besides the hassle to hook different keys
