It is a DIY.
I just replaced mine a couple months back.
I bought the replacement lamp from Duval Motors.
It looks like the site is down, however, you can call them for the part
at 352-332-7571 x104.
The mirror housing comes off with a flat bade screwdriver AFTER you
position the mirror to the most inward position you can adjust it with the
cabin control. Read a post for photos as I did.
The lamp is removed with a single torx head bit/screwdriver.
When your done, the mirror cover slides and snaps back into place.
The wiring connection is made in the sliding off/on motion.

You should try the brake switch. It's $14 from the dealer and I replaced it in 10 minutes. The dealershit charged my warranty $186 in labor when they replaced it again without my prior consent!

 

Hi guys. I having issues on replacing the nearside mirror indicator light for my E220 (2007 model). Can anyone help me? I need to know how to get the mirror off and replace the light.

Yes on DIY. To be sure we're on same train of thought, there's a light topaz colored plastic cover on the back of the side mirrors. How do I replace these? Neither one is working. Your assistance will be most appreciated. Sharon Stewart
