What is the difference between a Service Manual and a Maintenance Manual for the 560SL? In a query with a vendor, I wanted to find out if the Maintenance Manual had info in it about removing/reinstalling body and interior trim. He indicated that would be found in the Service Manual.
I didn't think there would be a difference between the two, since I figure if you "service" your car, you are "maintaining" it.

I contacted This Company and was given the following prices for the manuals. These are new, but outrageously priced.

Body and Chasis - $145
Engine - $85
Heat & AC - $75
Illustrated Parts Catalog - $35

Here lfedje explains how to download the MB Service CD to your hard drive and ease the navigation issue inherent on the CD format.

WOW! I used the link to "CD Manual - Getting Rid of the CD" by contributor ifedje - it works like a champ.

I ordered an original MB Service Manual on CD, titled "Mercedes 107 450SL-450SLC - 380SL 380SLC - 560SL Service Manual Library" from bm Manuals on ebay, for $19.99 - see Mecedes Benz Model 107 repair manual on CD 450SL 560SL:eBay Motors (item 110416110958 end time Jul-27-09 21:56:48 PDT) for a listing (if the listing has expired, search ebay for the seller's name). Cost was $19.99 plus shipping, and it arrived promptly.

I followed ifedje's instructions for copying the CD over onto my HD - on a Mac - and despite the fact that the CD I received is written for various Windows programs (prior to Vista), it runs perfectly on my Mac (using Safari), and Steve Nervig's free index (the one suggested by contributor abiby) works perfectly. A tremendous resource.

I use Steve Nervig's excellent index as well. It's got a few loose ends (like the search function), but on the whole it's much, much easier to navigate than the stock index. Kudos to Herr Nervig.

And if you want to personalize its opening page a bit, just use notepad to edit the file named main.html to replace the existing caption (Mike Heath's 1988 560SL Model 107) to one of your own choosing. Then crop and rename a 400x251 pixel photo of your SL to 560SLmike.jpg and drop it into the ~/Index/Resources/ folder, overwriting the existing one.

Good road,

M110 Engine Manual

M110 Engine Manual...............a must have for 280 SL owners.
Hi Nobby - I've got a big favor to ask ...

I'm adjusting the valves today on my 1985 280SL 107.042 with a 110.984 engine. I just realized that the specifications I've got are for a M100, 116, 117 engine.

Can I ask you to check your service book and tell me what the valve clearances are supposed to be? Perhaps send me a picture of the specification page?

I'm going to continue to look through this forum to see if I can find it posted, but so far you've got the only manual for the 110 that I've seen.

Thanks much for considering...!

Now I click on the link and it just brings me to the initial page for ICloud (pages, numbers, keynote and settings) I haven't a clue how to access this page now that I'm here. :(
