Hey Guys,
I have a 2004 S600. Its plenty powerful, but I can't help but want more. Is it possible to supercharge an S600. I looked into Kleemann superchargers but it looks like they only do V8's so the S430, S500 and S55. With an S600 am I limited to ECU's only, and how much do they really do? I guess I'm asking what my options are. Thanks for your help!!!

I am always intrigued by people who want more power out of an already powerful car. I know some of us take their cars to the track or drag strip, but for average daily use, where do you intend to put all that power down?

Of course more power is always great, but MB spent hundreds of millions of $$$$ in designing, testing and balancing these cars. Just adding more power without proper suspension, brake, cooling, transmission, etc. adjustments, just make the car off-balance, like a body builder with one huge bicep which doesn't match anything else. A car is more than an engine, all parts have to work together in harmony.

Please don't take my comments as criticism but only a question.

Thanks.

Hahaa, its a little too wide for the Bronx River Parkway. I have a summer place up in Massachusetts and about 45 minutes away is a drag strip. My family and I frequently visit it as spectators. But now, with a car like this and maybe adding a little power I thought I would give drag-racing a try.

Hahaha, no problem. Your probably right about getting an SL55 AMG or something similar. However, stock 2004 S600 do the quarter mile at around 11 seconds (usually give or take a second), which isn't that bad. So believe it or not, an S600 can be used for some lower level drag racing. I believe there are some nice clips on youtube although it appears most of those S600's have ECU upgrades.

I don't see any reason Not to bump the performance.. Sure you can't use it All over the place, but you can enjoy it, just need to pick your moments.

OEM's always leave performance on the table..they have warranties/liability etc to think about...
It's fairly well known that MB pulled back the performance of this engine when it was released..I believe initially they had it as high as 700+bhp..but it melted transmissions.

The brakes are enormous, and will handle Serious triplie digit stops w/o major fuss.. If you want to improve their performance, install Porterfield R4 pads and Castrol SRF fluid.

Transmission can be tended to by bumping line pressures...if you Really want to use the power All the time, I'd recommend installing a Larger trans cooler and temp gauge...

As w/ everything, We all get used to what we have and want More, it's just human nature;-)
