Gents.

Replacing the abs pump on my 2003 ml55. Checked numbers and replacement pump fits mine, however is there any coding that needs doing before I can use it?

I have the usual 3 abs, esb, and another light up. Error code complains about abs pump. I've tested the pump still works, I. E. Jumping the relay and I can here it spin, but abs pump keeps loosing contact or something. So for 65 quid I'm going to swap the whole unit.

Do I need to do some form of abs pump recycle before I bleed the brakes? I have a 3rd party code scanner so do I need to reset anything?

Advice around abs pump replacing great fully received.

My 3 abs, ebs, and something else comes on. I searched the net and did the test where you bridge the ABS motor relay and I can hear the motor run. I get communication errors ie. Can't connect it abs via cam. Or other ones.

When I first brought the car it's windscreen bottle was leaking which was dripping over it. Seems my plastic weld has finally given up and it is again dripping over the ABS module.

So I have ordered a 2rd hand abs pump, 65 quid. And will remove washer bottle and refix. I will check the loom and connector and as this replacement unit has far less miles in it will replace the who lot. I realise I will need to bleed it but it does need a bleed anyway.

The lights aren't currently on. Seems they only come on in the morning when cold.

All fun and games lol

So, you are replacing the whole ABS unit (not just the motor) without knowing what the problem is?

I dom. The motor is iffym. I get the c1401 error every now and then. I read up and many have this, issue due to iffy motor brushes.

Now my truck has done 150k miles, the replacement has, done 90k. So part of me wants to replace the who unit due to its better condition. Depends how I feel at the time of install as I need to refresh my brake fluid anyway.

I also need to fix a crack in my water bottle too.

So yes I do know what the issue is, just wanted to know if I had to be aware of any abs bleeding activities

Damn.

I swapped out the ABS motor last night, with a second hand one, and I still have the damn 3 ABS / EBS, whatever lights on. It seems to come on / stay on in the morning, then goes out during the day. Almost like the engine bay heat affects it.

Still getting the C1401 code. So looks like I need to swap the whole unit.

Gents. Seems I have the wrong abs pump module. :(

I rang up mercedes and what I call the 'abs pump' is called a brake force regulator. Part number A0044310412

The unit I brought, the connector has literally 100 pins, where as my unit only has 10 ish.

Was this module replaced / updated later on in the life of the w163? Do I need to search for parts from later cars? Which model has the same unit? Only ml500?

Bit of a pain, I have swapped the motor, which wasnt as long, but I still get the bas esp, eta and abs lights on.

Also, how do u disconnect this model from the chassis? Looks to be mounted on bracket that is seriously connected to the chassis arm.

I need a new brake force regulator, or sametimes referred to as abs pump.

Mercedes told me I need part number A0044310412

However when I search the net / ebay, looking at pics, then the part number is A1634310712

Does the ML55 have a different model ? I see a lot of mention of the ML270CDI. Does this unit also fit the Ml55 ?

Reason being is that parts are limited and I want to ensure I get the right part.

Help :)

Will do. Been a hard and expensive month with my old girl. Had to buy a new brake servo, 500 pounds, new passenger side cat, 300 pounds.

You don't own these trucks, your custodians of them and its my responsibility to keep her going and on the road. Mercedes UK wants £1400 for a new unit or £800 for a remanufactured one, plus vat lol

I'm going to ring a company on Monday and look at getting my fixed.

I don't get how there are other models of this pump. I see a lot of ml270 ones with this but I'm assuming they don't have esp?
