Can I burn the music on my flash drive to a DVD and play it thru the DVD player in the dash?

When creating an MP3 CD, structures and information can be archived in addition to the music track.

The COMAND APS unit plays the tracks from the MP3 CD in alphabetical order. To maintain the sequence of tracks on the original CD, reorder them in ascending order when recording.

The minimum bit rate for reading is 56 kB/s for MP3-CDs.

The COMAND APS unit does not play MP3 CDs that contain ISO 9660 level 3 standard files. Such MP3 CDs contain fragmented files.

Ah, I thought they all had the SD slot. I knew some didn't have the media interface plug in the floor console which you can get a short $14 adapter cable that plugs into the car on one end and has a USB female on the other so you can also plug a USB drive with .Mp3's directly into, but I thought they all had the SD slot. We test drove a few of various year models including back in the peanut headlamp models before we picked ours and all of the ones we drove had the SD slot though on some the media adapter was in the glove box and used a much larger plug rather than in the floor console like the one we ended up with has.

It will play DVD MP3'S , however my 07 models seems to get confused if you try to select tracks or advance tracks.
It then gets stuck in a cycle of track selection & eject.
So my advice is to use the 6 cd changer if you have one which plays cd mp3's easily. 6 cds have the same capacity as 1 dvd.

I can take a pic of ours tomorrow but here is a pic from a 2009 MB brochure.

I found a pic on the web showing it plugged into an iPhone to play the music from that, but what I bought was from Amazon which plugs in and the cord goes sideways to the right so you can lay the cord against the outer edge of the inside of the console out of the way and lay other stuff on top, it's the perfect length to reach the back of the console then curve up so you can see the USB drive. It has a little press lock on top so when you click it in it's secure, wont bump it unplugged by accident...

I have this USB drive in the 32Gb version plugged into ours with over 3500 songs in over 100 folders. That's how we play music in all of our vehicles...

Though since the MB also has the SD slot in the dash, we also have our music on a 32Gb SD card in that as well, so can have each one at different locations which is kinda handy since unlike all of our other vehicles the MB doesn't resond to voice commands on what artist or folder to play.

Here's that pic from the MB brochure of an iPhone plugged into it using a different version of the cable you can buy....

From what I can tell you can get a plug that plugs to an older iPhone (shown, that's from a MB brochure) , a newer iPhone with the lighting cord on the end, a female USB on the end like I ordered, or a plug that has what appears to be a plug that Y's and has both a plug for an iPhone and a 1.8mm male stereo jack like headphones use to plug into some other kind of device.

MY2009+ has NTG2.5 which is totally different from the OP's MY2005. His has NTG 2 which has no MMI interface in the console and no SD card slot.

Then it's either not a true "MY2005" (I know some countries go by "plate year" but "model year" is the actual buildcode MBZ goesy) or it's a European thing. I know in Europe there were some variations, but MY2004 used NTG1, MY2005-MY2008 used NTG2, and MY2009+ used NTG2.5.

I am currently trying to burn an MP3 DVD. My first try worked, somewhat. Only two folders showed and worked. The rest of the folders did not. I found out that all folders have to be in the root directory. The ones that did not play were not and included subfolders. I rearranged everything so there is only main folders that will be in the root directory with no subfolders to confuse the system On my second try I got media errors. I think that was because the system did not like the mpeg-4 or M4V(?) files. I have since converted all my music to MP3 and will give it another go after I acquire some more blank DVDs.

Still having issues making a disc. It keeps saying "Unknown Format" when selecting "MP3 CD", then I get a "Media Error" when selecting "DVD". I converted all music to MP3 and merged sub folders so all folders are in the root.

Any hits...tips ....what am I doing wrong and how do I get a successful burn.

Yes, I have but could not find that information. I may go back and look again. Yes It will play a DVD movie but without the video. and I have a 6-disc changer behind the drivers seat. It plays great. I only have a total of 730 songs on a DVD disc, in 43 folders (no sub folders).

I finally made am mp3 music DVD that works.
2005 SL500 w/NTG1 head unit
I created a DATA DVD and named the disc
Got rid of everything in the folders that were not .mp3 files. I got rid of sub folders such as multiple albums under one artist.
Burned at max speed
Burned it as a "ISO+Joliet" file system. I think this is where my previous burns went south as they were burning as "UDF".
I have a total of 730 songs on disc, in 43 folders!!

That is it. Disc works GREAT! Sounds even GREATER!

I finally made an mp3 music DVD that works in the DVD player in our Mercedes-Benz SL500. After 5 failed burns, this last one works.
2005 SL500 w/NTG1 head unit
I used a blank DVD-R disc and created a DATA DVD and named the disc
Got rid of everything in the folders that were not .mp3 files. I got rid of sub folders such as multiple albums under one artist. I am going to try a burn with the sub-folders to see if that will work also!
