I was told that i cannot rotate by tires on my 2020 GLE 350 4matic. Is this true? Tires are the same size.

Typically, Tires and wheels at the same, time are rotated.
Since you do not have a square setup, you can't rotate the wider wheels (with the same size tires all around) to the front. You can swap left to right, though.

Optionally, if you wanted to rotate properly (since all 4 shoes are the same), you can remove the tires and rotate them to the rims accordingly, but then it's going to cost you - removing the tires off the rims, re-balancing, etc.

Moving you along over to the w166 forum.

Thanks. I have always rotated all my tires. I did have a 2005 C Class Kompresor that had different sizes tires (and rims?). I hated that they were staggered - tires were so expensive. I was surprised that the GLE could not be rotated and I understand better now based on your rely. I was thinking the same with removing the tires from the rims and then rotating front to back; back to front. A real number.
Thanks again.

OP, if your wheels and tires are the same size, you can rotate them. If they aren't the same size, you cannot rotate them. According to this article, 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE350 4Matic Rises Above Its Modest Station, on Car and Driver, your vehicle has a staggered setup, in which case, you can't rotate. I've had two vehicles with staggered setups. All you can do is replace the tires in pairs as they wear.

For what it's worth, the article I linked doesn't specify the wheel widths, but I would be very surprised if MB put 275/45R-21 and 315/40R-21 tires on the same wheel widths. Based on those tire sizes, I would expect the wheels to be 1" or 1.5" wider in the back than the front.

OP states tires are the same size. We do not know if he is even the original owner.

If tire/wheel set up was supposed to be staggered. Why were they switched out on a relatively new vehicle? ALL four tires and rims sizes needs to be verified before his question can be answered.

Kent1956, The reason for this slight difference in offset front to rear is a mystery. It seems a compromise between the two could have been close enough, but that's not what they gave us. Perhaps a case of over-engineering without understanding the whole picture. I'm assuming you have the 20" wheels with 275/50 R 20 tires. The 50R wheels are 8.5" wide with offsets of 55.5mm F & 42mm R; the RZV & RZW AMG wheels are 9" wide with offsets of 57mm F & 44mm R. Many owners and probably many tire shops will not pick up on this difference. Frankly, it's not going to make the car handle much differently if you switch them, but that is a 1" front to rear difference that you will be able to pick up visually if you key in on it.
