I am in the market for CL500 C216 with the M273 engine. I have chosen a vehicle already & I'll be buying it if the independent shop doesn't find something bad in the full pre-purchase inspection scheduled for next week. I have the VIN of the car so I ran it through lastvin.com to pull the engine serial number. What I got as a response is a bit confusing since the serial number differs from the most M273 engine numbers I've seen.
The VIN is: WDD2163711A003933
The engine serial number I get is: 273961 09 309363
As you can see the last 6 digits (309363) seem to be way after the affected engines as per the bulletin but the 2 digits before them are not the usual "30" instead it's "09". I have seen another CL(Here's VIN for reference: WDD2163711A012327) with such digits in the engine serial number so I am not sure how to read it.
Do you guys have any idea how this should be interpreted and whether it falls in the affected M273 engines or I am safe?
