For Owners that are looking for Relays underneath the Fuse Box & what those Relays actually are for & for which component .
How many are out there that don't know these Relays underneath the Fusebox are even there ? ,all our Newbies that's for sure .
Take Note it changes after 08/1995 including wiper relay.

Hi i have a 92 600sel with abs / asr lights on,do you remove the fuse box in order to get to relays underneath? Ive had car into mercedes repairer to sort issue but asr module not blinking as it uses blink code. Surely they would have checked relays?? Also starting the car with brake pedal depressed dash lights come on straight away. And have cleaned speed sensors on rear wheels.

Sorry if have intruded on someones post but not sure how to start new one

Don't be sorry ,you need Help & that's why we here for ,Moderator's can fix/remove/shift post's if there is a problem with any post's .

You don't need to remove the Fuse box ,Look around the front Edge facing engine ,you see 2 screws on the inner edge of the front ,at the back you see that that section is lift-able .
Don't remove the 4 screws that are on all 4 edges ,no need for only the two at the front that separate the box .

BTW: Don't forget that on your 600 ,there are two extra fuses on the passenger side Coffin Module Box in front of the Firewall ( 4 screws around edges to get to it) ,the box where the scanning port is (round Plug) ,if one is burned out ,it will trigger ASR permanently until replaced .

Cleaning rear wheel abs sensor doesn't make a difference ,you need to clean the front once & sounds like replacing your Brake Switch is a good idea . Booth these repairs you do yourself as they are easy to do ,Brake Switch is on top of brake pedal ,cost around $30-35 ,a faulty one will trigger ASR/ABS .
If you go Mercedes dealer they probably charge you $2-250 or more for these easy repairs ,my grand daughter (4) could do it,lol.

Ok, i will have a look tomorrow. Have had this issue for a while now and would like to fix it myself as cant afford to keep putting her in the shop.

Cars not in limp mode but power is definitely reduced, no speedo and heavy power steering, as they are all controlled by same module. Do the 600's have front speed sensors? I read somewhere that they dont and elsewhere that they do.

On my RHD 600 (same as yours) the main ABS speed sensor is the Left front wheel one ,on yours if it is LHD 140 it would be the Right side one ,Personally i clean booth for piece of mind.

Post count means that after you posted 10 Post's ,Benzworld opens up with more options for the User .
Wait ,maybe it will open for you on the smartphone . Try Google on the phone then you can log onto Benzworld a different way by not using the App (Benzworld Ap) . I found that App to be highly restricted but On Google ,Benzworld options all show up on my smartphone (Samsung S10) ,same like a PC version.

Same think . $100 is actually cheap, to cheap . Make sure it's a good pump . When buying 2nd hand parts there is always a risk that you buying the same problem again in a short period of time .
Look for Warranty . I personally when buying this sort of parts prefer to buy it directly from a wrecker locally as i can bring it back & get about 3-6 month warranty to exchange the part & i get to see the car the part came of from .
Contact the seller unless it is locally . When you get the part ,clean your front ABS Speed sensors as well ,they are magnetic & collect the metalic brake dust ,if never cleaned ,they send a low signal & throw ASR fault , basically Limp mode . Usually this gets resolved for a few days after washing the car but then driving it ,the dust sticks even more so it would get more clogged up later .
Just a few days ago i bought a low k 40000 km M120 & a Lorinser front bumper , i saw the car the engine was in so i'm confident , i didnt need any of it but just to have it in the long run as M120's here in Aus are not available anymore ,i bought the last one & one for Troy ,booth low k's .
Shop Smart when it comes to Parts not to have Headaches later .

Lets See what we have in the Trunk , Facing Trunk- Right Side - behind the Trim .
I never figured out what that Mysterious Relay next to the Fuel Pump Relay is , Rear Heated Window Perhaps {?} .

Thanks Time Capsule , yes 2 FP's .
Looking at the Star pic , Booth Fuel Pump Relays are in line behind each other , it's the one next to it I can't make anything of it , the one with the question Mark to the Right which is Empty on the Star pic , mine does have a Relay in there . Removing it , nothing happens , it's just there , that's why I suggested perhaps Rear window Heating which I can't test .
Maybe MB did a BoBo or just added an empty space for a spare Relay ( that will be the day ) lol but beeing a W140 it wouldn't surprise me , they are full of surprises .
Thanks for posting that Chart .

Merc-S600, your original picture confused me because your question mark is on a silver relay, and at least in the US models, the fuel pump relays are the silver ones.

But you are correct, they are located sideways, as shown in the StarTek diagram.
The slot that shows no relay there (that you circled in red) should be for the rear defroster (relay K13/1 and on the cars I have seen is pink)

My Ex S500 (low km's) had a Pink Relay in that Slot, since it was next to New when I purschased it ,previous owner beeing a Doctor , it was never changed you are correct on the Color .
While my Ex 600SE had a Silver coloured Relay in there , same as this 600SEL I have now . Most likely they have been changed by previous owners on booth .
I do have several Pink Relays & will swap them over .
Recently repairing a Friends S500 , I noted a Pink Relay there as well .
Good to know , the Mistery has been Solved thanks to your Knowledge & Help .
This would explain why on this Friends S500 ( perfect condition ) , his rear Defroster didn't work (if that is his Defect -faulty Relay) , next time he comes visit me I swap it out .
Thanks Time Capsule , greatly Appreciated your Help .

Here is a small Handy Tip for those Garage Queen W140's .
Since my 600 is standing in the Garage for Long time which slowly slowly drains the Battery , not completely Flat but I see it when I open the Doors & interior light is a little Dimmer .
I always remove the Plastic Battery cover & then unscrew the Negative , not a big deal ,really , but annoying .
I have installed a Battery Disconect Switch which all I do now is turn the Knob to Off & battery is Disconnected, takes seconds .
Absolutely love it .
I still have to find a good Spot on the Edge there where I want it , Maybe I install it externally behind bottom bumper were I would avoid opening the Trunk completely , lets see .
I Highly Reckommend this Switch .
These are also available with Remote Key but reading Reviews ,they are not Reliable.
Except for Reprogramming Windows & Radio Code , functions Perfectly & does not affect the Cluster .
Why Cluster , many when disconecting the Battery & then Re-attaching it , there cluster acts weird , no problems to report with that but note that I never disconected -ever ,the Positive Terminal together with Negative terminal .

You gave me an absolutely Awesome Idea ,you know that Time Capsule .
Since last Post above , I have been searching & studying whats best to get for this Battery .
Since then I have installed a NOCO GENIUS 2 which is a Battery maintainer & repairer which stays connected 24/7 , turns on & off by itself .
Still wasn't happy , so I also installed a Blutooth gadjet that tells me what is happening with my Battery over my phone within a specific App .
Have been testing & so far I love it . I don't even need to open the Garage anymore to check how the battery is going .
Thanks for the Tip .
