ESP inoperative C300

Hi
I am looking for some help, when I accelerate hard (passing etc.) I get the ESP inoperative message pop up on my speedometer information section, I lose cruise control & car will only accelerate very vey slow but will eventually accelerate to regular speeds. If I stop the car & turn the ignition off & back on again it clears itself. I have searched & can not find anything specifically the same as my problem. (A lot of people have ESP inoperative & run flat inoperative) my car just turns off the ESP until restarted??? My tires are good (some people said bold tires can effect it).
I have read that the steering angle sensor can cause issues, but am also thinking it could possibly be an ABS sensor.
Has anyone ever ran across this issue & if so can you offer me any help?
Is there anyway to test the speed sensors?
W204 2008 C300 sport

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.:)

My wife has had the same thing on her 08 C350 a few times. Of course it never happens when I drive the car.

Anyway... What I've done is reset the steering angle sensor (turn steering from lock to lock 5 times) and it goes away temporarily. Until several months later it does it again.

Another suggestion I've heard is that if the battery is getting old, that might also cause something like that. Her car still has the original battery from August 2008, so it might be time for a new one soon...

Vortecpwr, Thanks for the reply. I know that there could be many reasons as to why the ESP is inoperative, I was just curious if there was a common problem associated with it. I was also wondering if there is any way to test the speed sensors. The wheel bearings seem fine so that eliminates one of your recommended problems.
Do you know if a universal OBD2 reader will pick up any of the above fault codes or would the car need to go to MB & hooked up to STAR diagnostic?
I did reset the steering angle sensor & it hasn't had a problem since being reset (but it's only been a couple of days, although the car was previously doing I every time you hit the gas hard).
Thanks again for your reply :)

From my experience with a different car, the ESP light comes on and the engine is restricted for safety reasons. How I managed to fix it on my old car (2010 Acura TL SH-AWD) was to disconnect the battery and drain the system of power and wait for a few minutes. After doing so, the on-board computer should reset. In your case, the ESP stays off which is odd, so maybe this workaround with the battery might help. Goodluck!

I have exactly the same problem with my 2007 C200. The trigger mechanism is also hard acceleration. It is also cured by switching the car off and then back on. I have plugged in a diagnostic tool and the error code returned is "P2123- Check potentiometer B37 (Accelerator pedal sensor). Hall sensor 1: Short circuit to positive."
It sounds like your problem is highly similar and could be the same issue.
