My Level 2 TESLA charger has output of more than 22 kW (in fact it operates 100A circuit). Car limits charging to 9 kW. Mercedes WallBox charger has output of 22kW.

What can be done with unlocking 22 kW charging capability without acquiring and installing Mercedes Wallbox EV charger?

Is this software lock and can it be programmed?

I guess MB tries to force consumers to purchase they charger by limiting charging speed from other non MB branded chargers but I thought I would ask. Level 2 charger is Level 2 charger - doesn’t matter if it is MB, BMW or Tesla. Should work the same. Not a big speed difference between 9kW and 22kW - only 30% but nice to use already installed charging hardware without unnecessary investment.

I am curious about what type of J1772 Adapter you are using? I have a Tesla Gen 3 WC and the J1772 Lectron and Tesla Tap 48 AMP adapters work extremely well. I will also purchase a Tesla Tap 80 AMP J1772 Adapter in case I run into destination locations that require higher AMP adapter. Will be interesting to see in the Tesla Tap 80 AMP J1772 adapter can address the 22kw issue you discuss. Meanwhile, the lack of "walk away lock" functionality appears to be another former Tesla owner issue. Although I have not time it, the "walk away lock" function does actually work but takes way too long and creates security issues. Looking forward to learning more about the 580+, which I am extremely happy with thus far.

I wonder what the logic is behind 3 mins. Doesn't make any sense.

Talking of security, standing near our Model 3 the other week, my colleague got in the car and was creeping away in it. Not liking that at all. The phone proximity had opened it and ready to roll.
