Since I recently posted a new link to HIDs for cheap...I thought this would be a fitting DIY to help with those bright new lights. I just created it but will be transfering to PDF tomorrow morning at work. I used the 3M and Rain-X kits...both worked but for $21...the 3M kit was MUCH better. Significant improvement over the Rain-X kit and much easier on the hands (uses a drill and not hand sanding like the Rain-X kit).

I did change the directions from the box because I felt there was a better way to complete the process in a safer manner for the normal shade tree DIYer...their directions left a STRONG possibility of marring your lens.

Hopefully this proves helpful to some of you owners out there.

Actually the if you removed the light...you would then have to secure it. In the directions I advise to put blue painters tape (or masking tape) around the 5" of body panel to protect it...I had no issues with this.

The trim panel pops off...push the bottom tab down gently and move it away from the truck, then do the same for the top...it should pop off.

Glad to hear it. I love "cheap" fixes...eventually I want to clear the light housings.

I'm going to work on putting together a DIY that includes baking the light to open it up...then resealing to almost factory specs.

I used Plastix before...it works well...but after a few months...this issue came back. I know it will come back again...but it will take MUCH longer this time. I think I will be doing this again this coming weekend - and adding X-pel on top...
