Hello, so the battery in my 2002 c240 went completely dead from sitting for to long over the winter. I’m currently trying to get the car back up and running but I’m having issues putting the car from drive back up to park as it won’t go past neutral and the car won’t shift out of first gear. I remember having the exact same issue a couple years back and ended up replacing the part that the code was displaying which was P240C CAN Signal Selector Lever Position N15/5 Is Not Plausible “shifter lever module” and the car ran fine. It just so happened to be that the first time it happened, I had put in a new battery in the car and that’s when I ran into the same symptoms the first time around. Fast foward to now, I put in a new everstart platinum h8 battery and am getting the same exact symptoms as before. I really don’t want to fork out another $180 for another shift module and I really think it has to be something else that’s causing this sort of problem in the car. Does anyone have any recommendations on what this could be? If it’s a computer related issue? If something has to be reset from a high profile scanner? I have a icarsoft reader but I don’t think the device is giving me the right options to really go in and reset the actual problem within the system itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your car is going into limp mode because the is a problem in your trans.its a safety feature so it doesn't cause anymore damage to your trans. it wont let your car go past 2nd gear. and most likley 'without actually seeing the code"the problem you have is a bad conductor plate on your valve body. its a common problem for Mercedes the conductor plate is the art of the valve body the connect the the trans harness plug and goes to all the shift solenoids. if you replace the valve body it will fix your problem. you do not have to replace you're whole transmission just get the valve body replaced and you'll be good
There is a code and it displays P240C CAN Signal Selector Lever Position N15/5 Is Not Plausible on my icarsoft scanner
