Just curious Chief,
What would you do with a Chevy V8 that you couldn't do with these motors and why not? Is it just that the cost be be too expensive compared to the Chevy or does it have to do more with parts availability and/ technology?
Has nothing to do with technology. Has to do with parts availability which drives the need for custom parts which drives the cost out of the ball park.

Cheaper to put a V12 in it than to mod a V8 to 400HP

Whatever happened to the OP? And does anyone else (not you John) have a 107 that goes "a buck and a half" (150 mph)? I call bullshit.
Its not bullshit hes just rounding to the nearest 50:D

We used to hit 140 mph regularly in a 500SL. Maybe a 560 would hit 150?

One thing I always said about our recent (post 1992) MBs is that they always did what they said they would. In my case (500SL, 500SEL & 300CE-24), this was 140 mph. I've heard people say that the 300-24 could hit 150 mph but I've never tried.

My 2c worth.

Best to all.

The Euro 500SL has about 25 more HP than the US 560SL. Mercedes published the top speed of the 560SL at 137 MPH. I have no doubt it will do it.

Interesting that they found the 450 intake manifold more efficient than the 560
That probably had more to do with the old D-jet manifold already ported for injectors.
