380SL OVP Relay

I purchased a 1985 380SL a couple years back. it had a slightly bouncy idle which I addressed this summer after realizing the iac was gummed up. After a replacement, it ran smoothly for about 10 minutes before blowing out my ovp relay. The real problem is that I can't find the exact relay as it has been discontinued from my knowledge and hours or research. I need someway to either fix the one I have or find a replacement. I heard that the five prong relays work, but I want confirmation before buying one to make sure. Otherwise, if anyone has tips and trips to fix a relay or knows where to get one, let me know. Also, if someone has a picture of what the diode connections inside the relay look like along with the soldering, that would be great. I can't seem to find anything. Thanks in advance

The one I had on mine it is an earlier year. The issue was the internal fuse was blown. This was just a piece of wire so it wasn't repairable. The replacement with the fuse on top was on back order. I removed the case and just soldered a fuse in. I plugged it in and just used it with the case off.. I finally received the replacement and put it on the shelf. A year later I had the panel off and went ahead and used the replacement.

I ran in to this earlier in my rebuild. I have the later unit with the removable fuse and could only find used ones on eBay. On a whim I took it to a local computer repair shop. These guys understand electricity and are much better at soldering than I will ever be. He was a little reluctant to do it, but then he got into it! Cleaned, refreshed solder joints and it works like a charm for $50. I bought another used one and had him refresh it as well. Can’t hurt to try!

I also have the later unit with the 10A fuse. If anybody is still struggling with the OVP relay, reach out to me and I'll repair it for you. I spent some time studying the circuit diagram, and am able to repair and test the relay before sending back. Refurbishing the unit did not fix my issue, unfortunately, but it's good to know that I've fixed a potential issue on my Benz.
