Moving the "framerails" down. Here is the first swing at a pattern. Inside flange will be 6.5" tall. Outer will have some contour to allow upper arms to swing.

I gotta figure ot a way to jig this thing up. Every time I touch it, it moves.

Are the crossmember mounting points and shock mounts the only points under the hood that are symmetrical side to side?

Scratch shock mounts, they aren't the same elevation when compared to top of fenders.

In your shoes I would either find at least 8 screw jack stands some where or buy a couple used sections of scaffold and at least 8 leveler legs. Make jack stands to desired height. Level the car all around, does not have to be ride height. Set the front assembly on as many stands as it takes to set it in the car. Assuming the floor is not level a cheap laser level works as do smaller levels once you establish some bench marks.

I've got a fab table big enough to hold a car and two big ass gantries. I didn't want to figure out how to pick up the mercedes with chain hoists. It may come to that. .....or the pieces and parts that I bought for this car are gonna be used on a more desirable project.

Level the table, level the car on the table and go! My table is open to allow access, you might choose to set yours higher than ride height for better access. Great building. I made lift bars with 2x3 or 4 with solid pins that go into the jack ports that I use with the lift. You can do the same and make attachment points on the outside for chain hoists. Look on early pages of my build thread and there is a photo.

Sounds like you are losing zeal for the project. Certainly past the point of a OEM ish swap. I ran a thread to gauge interest in a stockish swap and got little interest at all.

Short of the Frame Jig NCFJ made, a 4 post lift works very well.
