320CDI Inline Starter motor removal

Hello. My starter motor gave up the other day, and only makes a whirring noise. I'm trying to remove it, but the bolts that hold it are so close to the bulkhead/firewall(is that the right word?) that it almost seems impossible without taking out the whole engine and gearbox.

Anyone got any pointers for this? I've been googling forever without finding ANY information regarding this engine and starter.

Edit: 722.6-gearbox, om613.960 engine.

Looks like you have the setup where transmission bolts hold the starter.
Go under the car with socket, long extension having wobble on the end, or UV joint.
Unfortunately, the firewall warps around the flywheel casing, so that's a no-go aswell. I'm starting to think that I'll cut out holes in it from inside the car at this point.
