I’ve got a 2014 Mercedes GL 550 . i’m having several issues that have me completely stumped . I bought it used & the horn has never worked! I checked the fuse it appears to be fine. Right after i got it the seat massagers quit working . Now there is a malfunction code (picture below) showing up for the rising function. From what I’ve read this can be caused by a small leak in the airmatic system . I had it checked by a non mercedes shop they said it shows no leak. Now the command screen/radio/DVD players , nothing works. it started out with the screen just going blank then coming back on & resetting. Now it doesn’t come on at all. Except the on button flashes.
Things i’ve tried: Changing both the battery & auxiliary battery. Checked fuses for all horn, airmatic system, & command fuses , including the one on the back of the radio. i’ve tried resetting the radio , from a video i saw on youtube.

Has anyone had any of these issues? it seems crazy expensive at the dealership. Having to pay $279 for diagnostics & then crazy amount for replacement radio & it’s still might be outdated . Has anyone upgraded the radio/screen & made it compatible with the backup camera , current back seat screens, i’m not sure if i would still be able to access seat massagers ect. and it’s confusing which one would work since the radio controls , DVD changer & screen are separate. Picture/videos below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Usually the GLS/GL and S-Class are usually not great with electronics. The command screen might have just died. In my 2014 GLK250 my screen is starting to die, but my radio and everything else works. In the GLK X204 the screen is fairly easy to replace. Not sure about the X166. About the AirMatic I really can't help you since I have never owned an AirMatic Benz. I try to stay away from those since I always buy Use Benz and the AirMatic is known for to not threat you well if you buy used. The horn could be an easy fix and possibly less than $100 if you buy a used horn off eBay. The seat might be a fuse or the cable got lose. It could also just be that it went bad.

(Off Topic). When you buy Used German you should be some what mechanically incline so You don't have to take it to the shop since it can become expensive real fast. My 2012 ML350 has a rattle noise on start up and I thought it was a timing chain issue and I took it to a mechanic to get it inspected. The shop quoted me nearly 10 grand to "fix" the issue. Now I know it's the VVT that have went bad and not the timing chain. I also just fixed my GLK250 since it had a boost leak and shop wanted 3 grand to replace the hoses.

I have a 2015 GL550 and some of the same issues have shown up in my SUV. My Airmatic problem is related to a broken air hose in the passenger's seat. I took the back of the seat off and can see the deteriorated hose and hear the leak but it's not something that I want to tackle. I also have the same issue with the radio head unit. It's blank and the on button is flashing. I just purchased a used head unit on ebay and I'm going to replace the unit this weekend. I'm hoping that fixes the issue with the radio. I've also checked all the relays and fuzes that I can locate that are associated with the radio.
