2004 ML350 Interior Color Help!

I have a question about the interior of 1 2004 ML350. Just recently bought used and it didn't come with the printout regarding the car. A printout from service records show the interior color as Java. A vin decoder site showed it as Saffron. Is Saffron and Java the same? Also the dash and steering wheel are a much darker color and I CANNOT find anywhere that mentions that color. I'm asking because I want to touch up the seats with leather dye. The steering wheel also needs some new color but don't know what color to order. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A dye as such won't work you need leather paint which is an acrylic paint with bonding additives. I have already done my complete interior except the rear seats, haven't got to them yet. I just got my paint rep to match the colour perfectly. You could go to a leather repair guy and get some paint of him. He will charge you 3 times the price of what it's worth but you will get the rite stuff that way. My interior is the same as yours and it came up like new. I haven't done the darker colour it wasn't that bad.

That's a standard colored dash and steering wheel.

You can get the correct leather paint by ordering it in at your MB dealer. P/N is 000 986 92 33 1A19 for Java. $50 will get you 500 g. --> Mercedes-Benz Parts - Mercedes Benz Parts

I think your steering wheel color is called Borneo.

(For reference for other members, if you have Orion grey leather, the color code is 7E39) --> Mercedes-Benz Parts - Mercedes Benz Parts

According to the data cards :

- my 2001 ML55 has 561A Exclusive Leather/Black Anthracite
- my 2004 ML350 has 261A Leather Black
- my 2005 ML350SE has 901A Nappa/Alacantra Anthracite Leather (i.e. suede inserts with leather surrounds)

I could have sworn they were all the same colour - I will have to look more closely.

Does the 561A, 261A and 901A code convert to some other code number as I wouldn't mind getting some MB leather dye to tackle a few minor cracks in the leather of the seat squabs?

Different codes have different uses. The 261A code is used at the factory to make sure the correct seats go into the right car. It codes for a set of colours - plastic trim, leather/Artico/fabric and carpet/mats.

Each colour has its own 4-digit code. For example, my Orion grey interior is in colours 7D05, 7214, 7E33 and 7E39. One is light grey (roof handles), one is dark grey (tailgate inside panel), one is in between (centre console), and one is the seat leather.

OK, thanks. So where does one find out this set of codes for their own car - as they don't show on the data card?

Or you could research them on the internet like I did.
I did .... and I always do. And found nothing. Nowhere do a find a clear nexus between 561A, 261A and 901A .... and/or 9B50, for example. I would have thought that if 561A is a collection of a couple of colour codes that this would be documented by MB and be somewhere on the internet. I thought you might have a link to a table or whatever you use, and be willing to share.

Use the EPC to find the correct colour code.

If you click on "Color Footnote" after you select a part in the EPC, it will bring up a box showing the colour code of the part. In this example, I selected the glovebox lid. For the early ML models, there was only Sand and Grey colours. My colour scheme is grey, so, using footnote 906, the colour code for the glovebox lid is 7234. From the attachment, you can see that there were six different colour codes associated with the Grey interior of the early MLs.

Yes, the front seat back pockets on my 2001 ML55 are leather.
