I have a 2002 C230 K (2 doors). Replaced battery in Dec 2008. Was out of town for 4 days last weekend and left the MB at home. Came back and found the car wouldn't start. Only have 3.5V left on the battery. Dealer checked and confirmed the driver seat control module is draining the battery. Per technician, my draw was 700mA and MB guideline is under 50mA when car is off. Once driver seat control module was disconnected, the draw went below 50mA. It would cost $750+ to replace this driver seat control module, labor + material. I said no thanks and asked technician to temporarily disconnected the power.
Looking at the fix suggested on another forum posted by doom239 and looking at my connector #2 (VERS) on the control box, I only have two wires for that connector. For the driver side, its BROWN and RED/YELLOW only. I suspect is 12V and ground and I don't have a third wire. Did anyone encounter this? Any workaround for that ?
I am thinking to swap the passenger seat control module with the driver seat control module since most of the time, my wife and I just use the power seat feature on the driver side. Its just less of an inconvenience. Are the two modules the same part and interchangeable? Have anyone try that and can let me know how that goes? I noticed the driver side modules has six additional small wires going to connector #1 (CAN, LS) which is absent at the passenger side module. Thanks!
