That car is a beauty, great color combo. If kept in that condition it should appreciate some in the coming years but I'd say about $15K is the max it is worth now. Just my opinion. There is a Black on Palomino one on BAT right now with comparable mileage and condition which I am following to see what it brings. One on BAT last week sold for $12,300 last week and it had a little over 100K so it seems the prices are finally starting to inch up.

andres, you started a thread at another forum posting another car. Why not just pay to advertise m8?

281lxm - I posted in the e500 forum asking about a 94 e500 that I'm also considering. Correct me if I'm wrong but I assumed that would be the place to ask? I'm new to the world of Mercedes and want to make the best decision possible hence me asking all of you about the cars I'm considering. Anyways, thanks for the helpful advice... lol

Damn I freaking hate lying flipping sleazy dealers. MB lover and collector my ass. As long as it brings him a few grand, he doesn't care.

Looks like he supposedly sold it at best offer on Ebay about a month ago when he had a 24.5K BIN on it. Now it's back there again.

That's a cracker!! Price I'm not sure on Being "down under".
But there are only 2 for sale in Australia at the moment. A 1989 560sec FROR $20,000 AND A 1986 560sec for $42,000 and there no better than that one.
I'd say if you can afford it grab it with both hands. Regardless of price you won't be disappointed.

Happy 560ing haha1!

Nice E500, but not 27,900 nice with that rebuilt title. Keep looking.

As for the 560's all stock US spec ones are one of thousands which all drive and feel the same, condition being the same, only differing in colors. Euro 560's are more fun to drive!

Member Alydon has an euro 560 with only 20k miles for around the price of the E500 here (and incidentally also has a low mile white E500 for sale).

I would think if you're spending 20k and up you can afford to be picky and start with well-kept, clear title species with maybe a dab of "special-ness" i.e. the E500 or an euro 560SEC.

In the US, that much for a rebuilt 500e is waaaaay too much. That's about what you'll pay for a mint one with a clean title. I like the w126, but I'd take a 500e anyday (granted, that's subjective, and opinions vary). $24k for that w126 is also waaaay too much. My 560sec is 127k miles and looks just as clean, and it's only worth $7k tops.

I can't believe i didn't join a Mercedes forum months ago. You guys are so helpful - thank you. My thoughts exactly on all the above. Both very nice but both over priced. I'm trying to adhere to the cheap Mercedes will be the most expensive Mercedes down the line mantra. I have money to spend and I'm not in a rush however I don't want to miss out on something that will be a good investment reliable and fun to drive every day.

Per your advice, found this euro spec 560 sec imported from Japan for 10k less than the he original smoke silver one I posted. Almost same milage.

Notice the gray/white dots inside the instrument cluster on that one? Almost like a "fuzz" inside the cluster. That combined with the odd color/wear on the door panel leather tells me that car has had water inside it for an extended period. That doesn't mean it's been under water, but likely got rained on and water dripped inside and was left that way. Seems a minor thing, but that will also cause electrical contacts to corrode, so I don't think I'd rate that one as a mint car. It's not a deal breaker when buying a car, but if you want one in top condition I'd avoid any with those issues.

That last one has been talked about here. Of the three, This one would be my choice. It is a Euro 560. More HP than US 560's.
Decent price too. Fun car waiting to go to a good home.
Bondavi can tell you about the Euro 560 as he owned one.

It makes me furious to be honest. Why lie? It's a beautiful car. Now all he's done is smeared doubt all over it. Its not rocket science... All you have to do is google the vin. Also, he is obviously not an mb enthusiast otherwise he would be on this forum and would know that it's 9k over priced. He orginally listed the 560 at 26k after he purchased at 17k.

Insult to injury he put more miles on it pushing it to the limit as he quoted on his video while he drove it across the country. Thankfully it was only from Arizona and not California like he said.

The great thing about these forums is that the cars are now known and traded as art with a public discussed history. It's a lot harder to not be honest these days.

It's a buyers market, and if you're sitting on that kind of cash, you're in the drivers seat. Be patient, the right car will come with the right provenance.

280's? Do you mean the R107/W126 six cylinder 280SE's? These are long gone....

The focus is on the later model 560's - however the grey market 500's will surprise (and reward) you well if you have a way about smogging.

I would stay away from R107 560SL's - there's just so many saturating the market. Not the time to invest. SEC's are another game.

The E500E is on the positive upswing, followed by the more-neutral market 560SEC. If you want, you can grab both as decent drivers for the price of a mint E500E. Both cars are so different you must own both to understand. Yet both are worth owning together as a young timer MB collection. Just ask me. Just ask 281lxm. Just ask Gerry. Just ask anyone.
