That is exactly how I have been attaching the plate to the car however I just was not sure whether MB offered a more elegant solution for this..

 

Looks like a Euro car in the pic. The body mounts on a Euro 123 don't fit US plates.

The easiest and most elegant fix, if I may, is to hit a JY and pick up a bracket from a 126 or 124 car. They screw into the Euro holes and hold a US plate.

Seems like this $10 Amazon bracket looks similar to the one in the picture.

Confirm with the seller if it will fit your vehicle's fastener pattern (measure the distances between then).

 

^^^^ Should buy one of these, I have just been drilling new holes in my plates for years, don't tell the authorities lol
