I have searched high and low for a vacuum pump rebuild kit and/or a remanufactured vacuum pump for my 1984 300D OM617A and have found exactly one remanufactured vacuum pump from an ebay seller for around $700. I don't trust ebay that much. My mechanic checked his sources and the dealer. Are any of you having this issue?

Kits for the series II pumps vanished years ago - Even Kent over in Seattle doesn't have them anymore. I wouldn't pay $700, I would source a good second hand unit .... I know, it could die just as quickly but they are long wearing these units. I have a few spares in a box but am too far away. Any W123s left in local or near local junk yards ?

This post may be of help ?

There a few kits left here and there, but you will have to search the web to find them. Is pathetic that no one is producing kits considering the outrageous money that low millage examples are bringing. I cannot picture a collector accepting his or her car expensive becoming a paper weight cause there aren’t parts to fix something as elemental as the vacuum pump…

I think your best option is to get another pump, especially if you aren’t doing the job of rebuilding it. Paying someone to rebuild it can cover the expense of getting a replacement ready to be installed. That way you avoid the risk of someone messing up your pump and ruining the kit plus wasting a few hours in case it doesn’t work.
