I have a 1987 190E 2.3 and have tried a couple of replacement wiper blades with very little success. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good replacement blade? I have tried the Trico, Rain-ex and a couple of others. None can handle the single blade action and miss the middle of the windshield. Any help is appreciated.

I have either Rain-Ex or Michelin on mine, can't remember which, but it works really well and gets the whole windshield.

3 years later, I went and replaced the 24 inch (not 22, as I originally thought) Bosch Icon wiper with a regular Bosch bracketed type.

For kicks, I also got a SWF-Valeo wiper (24 inches) to test. I can give whichever I don't use, to my mother's 300TE or my sister's 190E if they need it.

The nice thing about the Bosch, after 3 years, is the even pressure when it works well, but it does not have "weight" - I feel like the beam wiper does not put pressure on the windshield the way the bracketed standard wiper does.

When it went bad, it would allow water to streak across the glass. It still wipes and clears the water, but it did not clear the wiper portion of the glass 100%.

Has anybody tried SWF-Valeo wipers before? Is this the same as the original MB type? What wiper brand do you get when purchased from the dealer?

I love the single arm; it's one of my favorite characteristics of the 190, strange though that may seem. I also have a Bosch Icon 24" and it works pretty well. On my '93, the arm does an erratic sweep (don't know what else to call it--the arm sweeps up, dips down when the arc reaches the middle of the windshield, then goes back up again). Not sure if this is the case across the 190 range.

ive tried them all, from the cheepies to the expensive icon blades teh stock one works best. the blades like the icosn with the single pressure point work well initially but after a while the outside point would skip and not wipe anything due to there not being enough pressure on the blade. they look great but dont work so well.
