My w212 doesn't have bonnet closed sensors because of poor maintenance of previous owner. Somehow they just removed them and it didn't show any error.
However, today I left the car with the mechanic for some repair. After I picked the car up, it started giving warning signals that the front hood is open. In the whole process I found out that he connected a diagnostic tool and removed some errors that appeared. He says he didn't touch anything regarding the front hood sensors. I opened the bonnet locks and found out that there is no sensors in the plastic case, below the steel lock.
To try and bypass this, I unplugged and short circuited the two sensor cables(didn't work). Then turned off car battery for 10 mins, and then plugged in with short-circuited sensor cables and it started showing Active Bonnet Malfunction warning on screen.
Does anyone have an idea how can this be by-passed? I know it can be done, because it worked on my car before the error resets performed today. I would like to get expert advice on this. Buying sensors should be the last option, because at this point, I doubt that they would make a difference since the short-circuit hack didn't work at all.
