I have an ML400, 42,000 miles and has recently developed a problem.

The lane keeping assist inoperative message comes on the info display.Approx 5 minutes later i loose the function of the turn signals!

Now here's the really weird thing, i can drive the vehicle for weeks at a time and all around where i live and have no problems at all, however, on the odd times i take my wife to work in Washington DC, i use the I95/I395 and as on the enclosed map, the problems start when I'm in the area highlighted in red! !! i usually here the lane assist noise a couple of times within a few minutes and then the warning omes on the dash, i can still use the turn signals for 4 or 5 minutes but after that they don't work! when i do pass a vehicle or one passes me, the red warning triangle appears in the exterior side mirrors and flashes red until the vehicle has passed.

As soon as i turn the vehicle off and back on, everything works as normal!

The vehicle drives fine and has no other problems except the above,

Anyone have any ideas ? ( not conspiracy theories, lol)
Thanks

The lane keep assist/blind spot assist uses radar sensors in your rear bumper and sends the signal to a controller in your steering wheel clockspring. If these get inundated with radar signals from other devices, they will throw codes that will disable those systems. Specifically it's a code for external radar interference.

I had the exact same issues to yours, except it was not isolated to a particular location. The fact that the turn signals stop working entirely when the clock LKA/BSM fails is not good either. I had a failing controller at about 110k miles, which I was able to fix by buying a used clockspring from a parts yard. I went through 3 clockspings to find a match for my software--the parts are identical but the software on the controllers is different. If you know of a mechanic that can do SCN, maybe you don't need an exact match.

Your ML has such low mileage, you might be under warranty for that.

Thanks for the info, i was wondering if it was maybe picking up radar signals from the HOV lanes on the 95 that do have sensors above the road to detect how many people in the car and the ezpass unit! maybe thats whats happening.
Im the 3rd owner of the vehicle and not aware that there's any warranty left on it, i guess ill have to swing by an MB dealership and check.
