Valve Body overhaul

HI Guys...just joined:grin
I am in the process of refurbishing the Valve body on my 1995 (manufacturing year) s320 vin# WDBGA33E2TA290369
The valve body is disassembled and layed out.
There is sludge but not too bad considering 180'000 miles. (nothing gold colored)..
The pistons and valves are in ok condition with exception of the Aluminum made Governor Pressure Shift Valve and the Lock up Clutch Shift Valve. The surface on those 2 is a bit worn.
The problem is a failure to shift. The clutch paks and bushings are most likely alright as far as the vehicle behaved up to not moving into any gear.
Here is my question. Can anyone recommend a quality kit containing the parts to replace the "soft" parts such as o rings, seals etc including the valves and parts outside the valve body, accessible from below with the transmission installed.
Also, could anybody please verify my transmission ?
I am under the impression that it is a 722.5
Thanks a bunch.
Mark
PS. this is my first Mercedes Transmission. I am more familiar with Borg Warner
and GM... any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum,

Post pictures your W140 beast here on the forum here, so we can all see..

I have used DACCO, but they have discontinued the older 722.3-722.5, yet I'm getting ready for full rebuild 722.5 on a 95 SL320 which lost reverse, and I will using TransTec Kits, and RockAuto sells the overhaul kit(gaskets and seals) for about 80bucks, and they have the Banner kit with gaskets, seals, and frictions for about $190...

TransTec Authorized Distributors - United States

When you look-up your car on the RockAuto site it will have the name of another company, but that is the distributor of the TransTec kits.

When you loose forward gears 722.3-722.5 more than likely it is the B2 bore piston seal which is on the outside of the transmission...

How to Replace Your Oil Cooler Lines

If you got the valvebody to bits, i would replace K1, K2 & B1 pistons, and the last time I checked they were available...

Here is great thread with some great links from our buddy Joe:

On the 722.3-722.5 transmissions, the identity markings are on the rim where the oil pan butt's-up to the transmission. I cannot remember which side, but it is either the left or right side. The numbers are stamped which have the model number and tranny serial number...

Share some Pictures of your valve body rebuild here...I have many pictures of my 722.5 rebuild, but none from the valve body...

All the best,

Martin

Hi, i am new at the forum here.. I put my MB 320ce in the garage a few years ago due to that the car all of a sudden wanted to go in reverse when in reverse and in neutral and also it has a "war" in the drive so my car wont go forward before i push the petal. I have through the 4 years tried to read about the problem but realy never started working on it due to lack of money but now is the right time. Is it possible that this can have anything to do with the valve body. I changed oil and filter before i put it away. My transmission is a 722.503. Any ideas and input would be greatly appreciated! I love this car and had it for 12 years. Sincerely Per Martinsson

Welcome to BW. The slow.no reverse problem with the 722.3/4/5 transmissions is well documented on this forum. Has nothing to do with the valve body.
Transmission has to come out and the offending seal(s) replaced.

This should give you an idea:

The referenced thread is for 722.3 and you have 722.5, which is the same with the added 5 electrically controlled overdrive

BTW, the BenzWorld search engine is up on the top of the page (the window with the little magnifying glass)
