Upgrading to a heated steering wheel

Greeting's,
Santa just brought mamma a 2015 GLK 250. We are excited about this low miles, 1 owner, dealer maintained, cream puff.
I read some earlier threads about heated steering wheels. Do I understand correctly that to perform an upgrade, one would have to replace the steering wheel as well?
Ours has the heated seats. I was hoping (against hope), that perhaps is was a "simple" stalk upgrade with the switch, etc., and that the steering wheel was already 'prepped' for the upgrade.
Any folks out there ever had the upgrade performed by a shop?

Never had one, or even gave it much thought, until my present day CLS came with it. I must say it is a really nice feature to have up here in New England. Highly recommend you do what it takes to make it a reality for your Benz.

My '02 Audi S6 Avant has the complete cold weather package, and in my opinion, there is nothing better than to feel warmth through the steering wheel into your bare hands on a snowy winter day.

You can follow a procedure similar to this one, or you can drive to the dealer, sign a few papers, and drive out with a heated steering wheel.

Thanks all for the responses. I'll get an estimate from the local dealer. I'm sure a very nice pair of gloves will be quite a bit cheaper.
