R230 Gas Tank Baffle Loose. How to Repair

Hello,

My R230 also has the dreaded baffle coming loose in the gas tank.

There seem to be a number of options, in Germany an entire industry has grow to solve this.

There are also a number of DIY solutions;

1. Using a spring, catching on the baffle and then attaching it to the fuel sender.
2. Using strong magnets, placed on the top where the baffle meets the tank.
3. Gluing the baffle, but not sure what glue would withstand fuel - any ideas?

Has anyone done this already and which solution is recommended?

Mine has this problem. I’ve chosen to turn the radio up. Am I risking any actual damage?

Not sure, but it drives me crazy. Will get it done soon.

Will see how the access is and then decide if I do magnet or spring.

I used a pair of needle nose vice grip plyers to stick ends into the holes in the grey sections of the sender, turn counterclockwise from 12 to 11 o'clock to remove sender from the top of the gas tank. I used a t shaped long water main shutoff tool to stick into the gas tank; and turn/twist edges of the baffle up. This holds the baffle tight and immobile.
