I've searched the threads and must be missing it, cause I was told there was a thread about this already. Here are pictures of 2 vacuum pumps I have on 2 different om603's

First is the pump that's on the engine I'm about to put into my car. Has a #17 head, almost looks like it was a replacement engine at some point.

Second is my original engine.

Note that the replacement engines pump had torques screws in the faceplate, and that plate sits farther away from the tension pulley... I'm guessing this its a new style pump?

The version with the bolts on the front cover is definitely newer than the one without, but that's no guarantee that it has the improved "caged bearing" design.

Both these pumps have the bolts on the front cover, but only the one in the foreground has the ball bearings obscured by the cage.

Thanks. I guess the only way to really tell it to pull them off. better to do that know while they are easy to access..
