Cheers Mo, and thanks for your help and support - luckily we're both particular when it comes to quality so that made it easy!

You know what? I’ve never even noticed if my lettering is gone but I’m sure it is. Now, thanks to this thread, I will certainly notice. Thanks for making a non-issue an issue o_O
I haven't used the windshield washers for years because the lettering has worn off the stalk.. LOL
:):)

I don't know how many times I've read something on this forum, someone says this is missing/broken on my 107 and I'm going to hunt down the part and replace it. I go out and have a look, and f#ck me, mines missing/broken too. Never knew, blissfully unaware. It's good and bad
But mostly good (y)

Hehe, that's how viruses spread and our cars get better :D I knew I had a problem but didn't flag it until a solution came around, so at least there's some silver lining... Another thing I learnt is that there soooooo many different indicator stalks over the years it's not even funny - different in the US, different in Germany or the UK, plus also changed over the years so if you want to keep your baby "original" the decals are possibly the only reasonable / practical solution.

To either add to the knowledge or confusion, it seems the rubber boots mentioned in post #258 above may fit in the USA 560 SL without the plastic ring which was also mentioned.
Mercedes part: 107-987-00-43 (still available)
Looks like the rubber boot will just sit in the depression in the chrome trim.
The left is supposed to be a picture of 107-987-00-43 from the internet. I just ordered this so I'll see what it looks like, realizing I see a second rubber boot deep in side of my car in the right image.

Spot on benztag, I've had the part number search saved on ebay for 4 or 5 years and during this timeframe this is only the second time a new badge came up for sale... So yeah, not getting any more popular!

Re lotto numbers, if I only knew... 🍀😉

Just came back from the US - bang-on three years since my last trip just before C19 hit us - and brought home all the goodies that a buddy of mine was loyally safe-keeping for me since… All are “new old stock” (except for air vent knob and the grill star) and the service manual still smells like it’s just been printed - watch this space for future updates :p

Indeed, but Santa was running a bit late... Like 3 years late 😅
One pension cheque at a time.

Wait...are you retired yet?

I remember building my first hot rod...a 71 Nova SS that I put a big block in. Took me 2 years....one pay cheque at a time and 2 months sweeping the floor at the body shop trying to pay for the clear coat.

Unfortunately Nobby I need to slave away for another 28 years, or until my missus wins a lottery - whichever comes first! 🤣

To your point, we all do what we gotta do to do right by our babies 😁
