numerical order of plugs on M103

thanks --- now that makes more sense.

yes, the ignition cap has the illustration with numbers. what I needed was the numbering order ON THE ENGINE.

so it is 123456 front to back. I will simply plug ----

wire 1 on engine to nipple no.1 on cap ,
wire 2 on engine to nipple no. 2 on cap, so on and so forth
(starting from front to back of engine)

thanks,

andrew
I don't think your understanding is correct. The number one (1) from the distributor cap goes to number one of the engine (spark plug). Number two (2) from the distributor cap goes to number five (5) of the engine (spark plug).

To simplify:
Distributor #to spark plug#
1=1
2=5
3=3
4=6
5=2
6=4

If you install in wrong sequence, it will miss fire or in a more serious case you might bend a valve.

in short the numerical order of plugs in an M103 from rear to front is:

4 rear most plug
2
6
3
5
1 front most plug

that was all I needed to know. I was not asking for firing order. I just needed to make sure the correct ends of each wire landed in the correct spark plug AND the correct cap nipple. :thumbsup:

it can fire away in anyway it wants. it wont affect my life (unless its put on wrong).

thanks,

andrew
You need to follow the correct firing order and connect the proper wires from the distributor to the spark plugs. Also, on a straight six, the rear most cylinder is #6 the front most (close to the radiator) is #1.

Connect the wires based on the sequence you stated above and I bet it would affect your life.

Good luck!
