Now I've done it - jammed sunglasses drawer

So I was experimenting with removing the little sunglasses-size drawer to the right of the radio, left of the glove compartment, with an eye toward maybe fishing an Apple Lightning cable through there so I wouldn't have to have it hanging out of the glove compartment all the time...

Unfortunately, I seem to have triggered something in the push-toggle mechanism and then put the drawer back in, and now the drawer won't come out anymore. I'm not sure what the mechanism looks like inside, so even if I could poke some stiff wire around in there or something, I'm not sure what I'd need to do to get the drawer to pop out again. Does anyone know of a schematic for that mechanism? I'm not sure whether I've messed up the "toggle" part of it, or the spring, or what.

If I can't get it to come out by surreptitious means, will I have to take the whole dash panel off? Would the lower or upper dash be most helpful?

(Side note - what's this drawer for, anyway? It seems a little bit too small for normal sunglasses.)

If I get this figured out, I may have more questions looking for advice on phone connectors, but I'll save that for another thread.

You will need to carefully manipulate release as shown in video with draw open using makeshift tool thin enough to get behind closed cover @ left side (video shows right hand vehicle, right side release). Cover is removable not sure if it can be in closed position. Afterward, attachment covers disassembly for repair replacement part #s are housing 2116802652, cover 2116801839 + color code if need be.

Thanks @konigstiger ! I'll study that PDF and see if I can figure out the slide/catch mechanism - I need to first bypass whatever's going on under the drawer (I think that's where the action is?), since I think that needs to disengage before the side catch comes into play? I wish the photos in the Drawer PDF were a bit better, it's tough to see what's going on there.

hope the o.p. doesn't mind me piggybacking but, after getting the drawer out and removing a couple of coins and a toothpick, i pushed the drawer back in (nice and easy) but, it's now acting like it's latched in the closed position, it's not unlatching and sliding out when pushed in.

any tips to get it out?

On my 2007 E350, that drawer is 'lazy' and doesn't like to open. If I push it in, and then tap on the dash next to it, while using a soft pry tool to add some encouragement (gently working on the edges of the face to pry it out), I can get it to open up. Once it comes out just a bit, much easier to get a plastic wedge or whatever behind the face and work it open.
