I just tried to get my 10K service performed at my dealer. They could not do the work since there are no drain plugs currently available in the US. The drain plug is a throw-away item and cannot be reused. Before scheduling an oil change make sure that you check with the dealer to ensure that parts are available; if the engine oil is removed there is no way to plug the engine currently.

This sounds a little fishy..
Mercedes has supported the suction method of changing oil for decades. You just hook your vacuum device on the dipstick hole and the oil evacuates fully and easily. I do this all the time on my 2006 e320 cdi. If a dealer doesn't do this I would be real suspicious of them. You can also ask them how to put the hood in the service position. This is a procedure that makes the hood almost 90 degree angle when open. If they don't know how to do that (also supported by MB for deacdes) RUN!

Hi Folks;

New to the brand and new to cars built this century, except for Tesla I bought a year ago. Wife does not like it, so now she has a new 2019 S Class 560, RWD.

I also have run into with same problem, no drain plugs at the dealership. No oil either, although they were adamant about selling me the wrong stuff, (229.5, this car takes 229.52 after 2018)

Service dept had no clue, they were going to schedule me for a day appt when I pointed out there were no drain plugs available is Los Angeles.

I think I am just going to do the change myself, been doing so for 40 years on all my cars, Mobil 1 since the late 80's

Some dealers on line are selling the M-B genuine stuff, but 10/qt. would like to get the 5 gal jugs, any ideas of were to find a source?

TIA!

I completed my oil and filter change yesterday. Oil was apparently the original fill, 10k miles, and was pretty black. I am sending a sample to Blackstone labs tommorrow.

After much hassle with the local dealers parts dept, got the correct filter, oil, drain plug and crush washer installed. Best deal for the 229.52 oil was on line via ECSTuning. Oil arrived ahead of schedule for $8 per quart.

Resetting the A service data that the dealer messed up was a hassle, but thank God for YT. It took three tries before I found an example that worked for me.

Removing the filter was a bit of a mess, rubber shroud can be pushed up out of the way, fiber cover over the oil pan can not be fully removed, so need to be careful with that.

Leak free, A service complete except for pulling wheels and inspecting suspension and brakes. Good for a year!
