So I have a 06 clk500 with the same problem. My check engine light was on. The car had a bad hesitation at every start, and was running rough. It would die here and there, but would start back up. The other day, while parked and the car was off, but the ignition was on, and my wife and I were listening to the radio, while waiting for the kids and all of a sudden the power cut, clicked off and was completely dead. I turned the ignition off then back on, and the power was back. I attempted to start the car, but there was absolutely nothing. The car wouldn't turn over, or even crank for that matter. I tried to jump the car, and still nothing. I checked my lights, and they were very bright, so my battery is good. I checked for codes, and it registers two codes. Both codes are P0102, one is confirmed, the other is pending. I replaced my mass airflow sensor, and tried to clear the codes, and nothing. I also tried disconnecting the battery cause the code reader couldn't reset the system for some strange reason. When I turn the ignition on, I hear the systems electrical system turn on, but the starter does not engage. It has always started right away. Just like a new car. No symptoms of the starter going what's so ever. Also, now my auto/day time lights won't work, or my high beams. Is there a fuse or relay somewhere on the vehicle that might be tripped or needs replacing? I don't want this to be a money pit!! Please help!!!

Do you have a testmeter? It seems to me that either:

a) your battery cannot supply enough current for a start. Or...
b) your starter is toast.

Measure the voltage at the battery terminals before the start. Then see what it drops to during the start.

Can you hear the start relay click when you turn the key?

The tow truck guy tested my battery, and it's strong, even under load. When I turn the key to the on position, without trying to start the car, I hear a couple clicks and it engages. When I attempt to start the car, there is nothing, no sounds or anything. Just dead silence.

OK. One click could be the Start relay. That is connected to the starter solenoid, which also clicks when trying to start the starter motor.

If that does not move, it is either a bad motor, or it is jammed. One trick is to whack the motor body with a mallet. That costs nothing, and is certainly worth a try.
