I am considering a very nice looking 2014 GL450, and it has everything my wife wants on it, even the heated and cooled seats. My concern is the mileage on it - 90,500 as of today. It has had all the maintenance on it done by Mercedes dealers, and it looks like a 30,000 mile car, even the seats look like they have barely been sat in. I always worry about higher miles on a turbo car, as I know things start to go south when they get over 80-90K, and this one is in that range. The service notes that nothing major has had to be done to it, original turbos, water pumps, etc...so I am nervous about it. I know I can get an extended warranty, but I want to use it to tow a small trailer, around 5,000 pounds, and want to be sure it is up to the task. My other vehicles are much lower mileage vehicles, 2016 Infiniti QX50 - 21,000 miles, 2019 Titan XD Diesel, 23,000 miles(yeah, I could use it, but want to preserve the miles on it, and have a transmission issue with it at the dealer right now), and if it was the normally aspirated version, I would not likely have issue with it.
I have had 6 previous Mercedes, and loved them all (including a 2003 E500, 2004 CLK350, 2007 CLS550, 2008 GL450, 2010 E350, 2010 ML350 Diesel, and a 2008 Smart car, sort-of counts - LOL!), and traded up whenever I got the chance, but this one just catches her eye, and feels great. The money is right on it, so I wanted to get some opinions from people with higher mileage GL's, and experiences.
On another note, I HATE the running boards, they hit the back of my ankle and shin when I get in and out. Can they be eliminated, like on the earlier series?
Thanks for any info.
