Hello everyone, I have a quick question for anyone that has done this on their own m271 engine. I'm looking to replace the serpentine belt. I have all the tools. I see that on the m111 engines its just a flick of a wrench on the tensioner pulley. *BUT* on the m271 engine. The supercharger is blocking the belt tension. The question is: Do I have to get to the belt tensioner to take the serpentine belt off or can I just take off the idler pulley? :crybaby2:

you have to remove the Wideband silencer first (A VERY FIDDLY JOB)

2 Bolts (E12 or E10 sockets) to undo the silencer from the front of the engine
2 hose clamps (8mm)
1 spring hose pressure connect

Once you have undone the WB silencer, just drop it to the bottom so it is out of the way

To release the pressure of the tensioner you need a Torx 55 socket to insert to below the tensioner and rotate in CCW to take off the slack. Make sure you have a firm grip as the spring is strong and you can jam (or break a finger) between the ratchet handle and the main pulley of the engine.

To install, make sure the belt is on the tensioner first and then when you rotate CCW, slip the remaining slack on the the large idler pulley
