So my dad has been religiously been running 5w-20 in his M113 W163 and heavily recommended that I put in my M112 W203. I know these engines were originally designed to run on 0w-40 or 5w-30, so I am a bit skeptical, especially with me beating the crap out of the car. I love carving canyons š
I live in Southern California, so it obviously never gets really cold here. What viscosity should we be running? My engine is a bit noisy after 177k miles with slightly negligent previous owners and the W163 isn't exactly silent either after 206k.
Would like to keep things running well at least for a few more years, as the W163 will likely be retired from our family soon and I have plans to engine swap the W203 in the future.
